Blackberries safe for now [updated]

Aug 06 2003 - 11:54 AM ET | Research In Motion
Some progress in the Research In Motion legal case (a suit to stop the sale of Blackberries--see this report for more information). A key ruling delivered by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in the NTP Inc. vs. RIM litigation matter favored RIM and allows RIM to continue selling its products and services in the United States without interruption. We'll keep you posted on further developments. Update: This is a weird one. C|Net is reporting RIM lost and can't sell Blackberries until further notice. RIM is reporting the opposite. An injunction was granted, but then stayed. Basically, you can still buy a Blackberry, but the case isn't over. It's on appeal. If you're looking to get one in the near future, hurry. Stock of the comapny has dipped--looks like investors aren't still thinking HP will save the day.
