Sep 29 2003 - 02:14 PM ET | 3G, Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless has launched 1xEV-DO networks in D.C. and San Diego according to a news release by the company. Normal speeds range from 300-500 kilobits per second, but bursts can get as speedy as 2 megabits per second (faster than most DSL, and about the speed of most cable modems). You can buy a card for your laptop to enable on-the-go access for $149.99 after rebate. Unlimited service will cost $79.99 a month from Verizon Wireless once the service starts on October 1st.
