Two US cell networks having trouble

Nov 06 2003 - 07:39 PM ET | AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile
Two large US cellular networks are having major problems according to separate reports. C|Net says that a software glitch has some AT&T Wireless customers high and dry. If you purchased a GSM phone from AT&T Wireless in the last 6 days, odds are it hasn't been activated yet. Normally this process takes 15-20 minutes. If you are one of the affected customers, just sit tight. AT&T Wireless has pledged to get their system running as soon as possible. A more widespread problem is affecting T-Mobile's USA's network. Smartphone Thoughts is reporting that the company has confirmed several major outages across the country. There isn't a list of affected cities, but if you don't have service, call customer service (1-800-937-8997). To appease customers, T-Mobile is giving away either 50 free minutes or a $5 credit.
