Cell phone vs. cancer risk study gains funding

A massive study that will try to identify the potential risks of cell phone usage has been funded by the US government. For the past 10 years, there have been concerns that cell phones can foster the development of brain cancer. No definitive information has been gathered on either side of the fence, but no government agency will vouch for the safety of the devices. The $10 million study will span 6-7 years, but isn't slated to start until 2005. Currently 1.5 billion people use cell phones, but by the time the results are out, that figure will climb.
