Chinese dotcoms see profit in MMS

China based dotcom companies are looking at multimedia messaging services (MMS) as the next big thing. MMS messages meld graphics, text, sound and even video into short messages that can be sent to most any modern cell phone. The firms claim that the growth in SMS is reaching an end, and that the big story of 2004 with be MMS. We reported last month that the Chinese SMS market sent 15.6 billion text messages in January 2004.
