Napster tries ringtones

May 09 2005 - 08:29 PM ET | Ringtones
Napster has teamed up with Dwango Wireless to being the sale of ringtones. Originally known as the place to download (albeit illegally) free music, Napster is now a fee based subscription service. Wallpapers and other graphics will be sold alongside ringtones. Napstertones should work with all major US carriers by this summer. Sales have started already for customers using T-Mobile USA or Cingular. Most tones cost $1.99, but during the next 30-days a free download from the main Napster service will be given away with each ringtone purchase.
