Mobile handset sales surging

Gartner says sales of mobile handsets are
above expectations and as such revised the sales outlook for 2005. The first quarter saw sales of 180.6 million units, compared to 153.7 million in the year ago quarter.
Total projected sales for 2005 has risen to 750 million units, up from 720 million. While the figures disagree somewhat, these predictions show growth of around 12% versus 2004.
