Sprint launches Novatel Merlin S620 EV-DO card

wow-s620.jpgSprint PCS today launched another EV-DO data card, the Novatel Wireless Merlin S620. While Sprint PCS hasn't technically launched EV-DO service yet, the card will work albeit at a slower speed until the 3G data service is launched. By the end of the year, Sprint should have EV-DO in sixy metro areas. While the Merlin S620 has a list price of $249.99, it's selling for $49.99 online after special discounts. Back in March Sprint PCS launched a EV-DO capable data card from Sierra Wireless. EV-DO is a 3G data-only technology in the CDMA standard family. It allows for broadband type downloads, similar to what a DSL connection might have.
