Motorola held its top position for the US market where the RAZR continues to sell well. Sony Ericsson's market share is expected to increase in the third quarter thanks to fast sales of the K750i and the expected sales of the W800i Walkman phone. More information is available from Bloomberg.
In a related story, Nokia became the largest maker of 3G handsets.
Base on personal perceptions, Sony Ericsson is doing quite well in both Asia and Europe. But the table shows Sony Ericsson holding only a small portion of the global market, behind LG, Samsung and Motorola.
Yes, not to be an arrogant American, but I wouldn't count on Sony/Ericsson doing as well here, because their main advantage in Asian markets is due to technology which is not available here. We have the infrastructure to some degree, but we have about a million more square miles for it to cover and that takes a lot of time to implement wirelessly using this technology. As a developer, I tend to stick with Nokia (really Motorola).

It´s interesting to speculate on what models sold well. We know Motorola RAZR has been a hit in the US. Looking at current top sold phones (at least in Europe) one sees that Sony Ericsson's market share is going to increase in the third quarter thanks to fast sales of the K750i/K750c phones, as you mentioned. Nokia bestsellers this quarter has been the Nokia 6230/6230i, 6610 and the Series 60 trio 6680/6681/6682.
