Cingular bids for SF WiFi

Cingular Wireless joined a number of other companies bidding to provide city-wide WiFi for San Fransisco, California. The project has gotten a large amount of information once word leaked that Google's proposition was for free ad supported access (all other companies would charge). Currently T-Mobile USA is the only national carrier that has a WiFi service (dubbed T-Mobile HotSpot) and it costs extra for cellular subscribers.

The city has received 24 proposals, but it's not known when one will be decided on.
