Nokia Q3 2005

Oct 21 2005 - 11:15 AM ET | Nokia

Nokia yesterday released financial figures for the third quarter. Nokia maintained its lead

Important numbers of the quarter (all comparisons are year-over-year):

  • Revenue: EUR 8.4B - up 18%
  • Operating profit: EUR 1.15 billion - up 19%
  • 66.6 million Nokia handsets were shipped, up 29%
  • Nokia's market share is estimated at 33%, up 1%

It's interesting to note that North America is Nokia's smallest market (after Europe/Middle East/Africa, Asia Pacific, China and Latin America). Motorola is the market share leader for the United States.

North America is Nokia's smallest market b/c they refuse to build decent CDMA handsets... If a handset doesn't work on America's best network (and w/ EV/DO the fastest - faster than those so-called '3G' networks in Europe that actually just poke along), then why bother???
