Motorola PEBL launched by T-Mobile USA

Dec 14 2005 - 06:31 PM ET | Motorola, T-Mobile

motorola peblT-Mobile USA launched the Motorola PEBL today, shortly after putting it up on the online store as "coming soon". The PEBL is a smoothly designed clamshell that was fashioned after pebbles found in streams (seriously).

Feature wise, the PEBL stacks up as a fairly typical Motorola handset:

  • Quadband GSM
  • Bluetooth
  • 5MB memory
  • 176 × 220 pixel 262K color screen
  • VGA camera

T-Mobile is selling the PEBL for $299 with a 1-year contract.

Wow I like the look, but that's a premium price for the features!

That things looks stupid. It's the same ol'stuff. When are they gonna get one out with windows mobile 5.0 and wi-fi? That'd be worth talking about.

I agree it's a little light on features, but it never tried to be a smartphone so asking for WM 5 is a bit much. You're probably waiting for the Motorola Q. That should be out in Q1 2006.

I made the mistake of contacting t-mobile/tmobile customer service today about an issue on my phone service. I mentioned to the representative that I was receiving a "shitty" signal from the tower. The woman, by the name of Brooke, operator ID # 0955532, told me that she would be "hanging up" on me because I was using "foul and abusive language" and she terminated the call.

I will agree that 50 years ago, the use of the term SHIT or SHITTY would have been considered foul language. However, this word is now a part of common language usage. It has been used in TV commercials, by the President of the USA, and other respected members of society. To hang up on me because of my use of the word "shitty" to describe a tower signal shows me how far t-mobile/tmobile continues to lag behind the rest of the industry in treatment of customers.

Before t-mobile/tmobile attempts to expand its services and coverage, maybe it needs to go back and reexamine how it treats and deals with current customers.

I must disagree, and disagree STRONGLY at that, with Chuck. I have been a customer of Nextel, Sprint, AT&T Wireless, and Cingular each as seperate and disticnt companies. Each of them has disappointed me with the lack of quality customer service. I am now a loyal customer of t-Mobile, not because of their signal strength (I will agree with Chuck that it is often quite poor), but simply because of the high standards they have in customer service. Everytime I call customer service with t-Mobile it's a real pleasure. i have taken to comparing it to DisneyWorld. All of the operators are happy and more than willing to assist. So great are they at the customer service game that I have since moved to SC where there is no t-Mobile service and i refuse to change over to SunCom or Cingular because the customer service with t-Mobile is so superior! So not only do I roam to the other networks all of the time, but i can't even have a local number because t-Mobile can not provide one to me here in SC. It's all worth it for their high standards of service.
I am no prude at all. I say my fair share of foul words. I agree that "shit" is not necessarily the worst word that could have been said. But what have we come to as a society when we are upset because people will not allow us to curse at them. Give me a break! So, chuck, you're upset because you got hung up on for talking dirty. I know t-Mobile customer service lines. You didin't have to wait to get "Brooke" on the line at all, and I am sure you called back and were connected immediately with another delightful customer service rep who gladly let you curse at them about how much brooke upset you for not taking your "shit".
get over it!

Chuck has posted that on just about every forum related to T-Mobile. I think that is just a BIT vindictive.

More likely, Chuck has an alterior motive with T-Mobile that he isn't sharing.

I agree with previous two posters. I too have had the same exemplary customer service with t-mobile. Always quite pleasant and not at all overly oriented towards "the sale" when seeking info on handsets (like the PEBL, for example).

I myself have had really good luck with the signal strength with t-mobile (especially in comparison to Sprint), extraordinary in some cases that I didn't expect (Mammoth Lakes, with lots of big Mt coverage).

Only an obtuse and illiterate piece of worthless scum feels the need to force the use profanity on others. Take a seat in and live your life in a "S___ House" - its where you belong. Just don't expect anyone to join you.

Does anyone know where I can get the Pink Pebl now? T-mobile only has the orange, blue, green, black that I could see.
Thanks
connie

T-mobile, by far, has the best customer service. I've been with T-mobile for several years now and have refused to switch carriers despite the fact that I can get a new phone if I move over to Cingular. Instead I opted to purchase all my phones at retail value. T-mobile has gone as far as to call me periodically to thank me for paying my bill and to see if there's anything further they can do to make my experience better.
