Small Phone, Big Camera Ambition
The Xperia 5 VI is almost unique in the flagship market: a genuinely compact phone with a proper periscope telephoto. Most manufacturers drop the telephoto when shrinking to smaller form factors. Sony doesn’t, giving compact phone fans access to optical zoom that wasn’t possible before.
Camera: Full Xperia 1 VI Capability
The 48MP main sensor is slightly smaller than the Xperia 1 VI’s 52MP but captures excellent images. The same variable 3.5-7.5x periscope telephoto is present. Cinema Pro and Photography Pro apps are fully available. For photographers, there’s essentially no compromise taking the 5 VI over the 1 VI.
The Right Size for Many
At 6.1 inches, the Xperia 5 VI is genuinely one-hand friendly in a market that has grown uniformly toward 6.7 inches and beyond. If you’ve been waiting for a compact flagship with a real camera, this is it.
