Apple Contracts For Wireless Screens

Apr 14 2003 - 02:15 PM ET | Apple, Rumor
We linked a story last week about the rumors that Apple is working on a mobile phone (normally thought of as the iPhone). The latest rumor is that they are indeed making a mobile device, but it won't be a mobile phone. The Taiwanese contract notebook manufacturer Quanta has been hired to produce a "a Tablet PC-style wireless display terminal" according to anonymous sources. This makes sense to most OS X Jaguar users--it comes out of the box with handwriting recognition. Pundits have long thought it strange for a desktop OS like X to come with a mobile technology like handwriting recognition (dubbed Inkwell by Apple). As with all things mobile, we'll let you know as soon as it happens. [via Unwired.cc]
