Lucent and AT&T Wireless have announced they are testing a next-generation W-CDMA (commonly known as 3G) wireless network in Miami, Florida. You may remember that back in August we mentioned AT&T Wireless had bought 3G gear. Japanese wireless mega-carrier NTT DoCoMo invested $6.2 billion in AT&T Wireless for the development of a 3G network. If service is not enabled in at least 4 US cities by December 2004, AT&T Wireless must give back the cash.
