AT&T Wireless still under 3G deadline

Feb 19 2004 - 02:52 PM ET | 3G, AT&T Wireless
Thanks to an investment by NTT DoCoMo, AT&T Wireless must start up 3G service in 4 of the top 50 US markets by December 2004 [MobileTracker coverage 1, 2]. The Cingular buyout did not change the deadline. However, once the deal is done, Cingular will have an easier time rolling out 3G services than other wireless carriers.
