Philips Semiconductor today announced, "Separate, integrated single-package WiFi and Bluetooth chips for smart phones and portable devices." The hope is that phone makers will be able to add in both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth much more cheaply. Volume pricing for the chip that combines the two wireless standards sits at less than $10 per unit.
