AT&T Wireless launches 3G

As expected, AT&T Wireless has launched 3G service in four major US cities: Detroit, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle. Dallas and San Diego should come online before the end of the year. Data speeds average 220-320 Kbps. Unlimited mMode data access (data on a phone only) costs $25 per month. Unlimited data that you can use your computer for costs $80 per month. AT&T Wireless is selling both the Nokia 6651 and Motorola A845 phones to use with the service. In addition, the company is selling a Lucent / Novatel data card for laptop access.
