Nokia increases quarterly estimates

Finally a stroke of good luck for Nokia--the Finnish company has announced that it expects to exceed quarterly profit estimates for the third quarter of 2004. Based on the first two months of the quarter, Nokia expects to make EUR 0.11 - EUR 0.13 compared to the previous guidance range of EUR 0.08 to EUR 0.10. We'll find out the exact figures on October 14. Stock in Nokia (NOK) surged over 8% in the US markets after the news. Nokia stock has been hurt ever since an earnings warning in April 2004. Nokia today introduced three new handsets based on 'art deco design': the 7260, 7270, and 7280.
