Some airports in Europe will begin testing mobile phone powered check in sometime next year. The system is headed by Siemens and uses GPRS. It will alllow passengers to: "check in, change seats, check times and receive details for dropping off baggage using their phones."
It is not known if this system will make it to the US, but with computer check in already available from most airlines, the demand here is not known.
