Verizon Wireless expands ringback tone program

Feb 23 2005 - 12:28 PM ET | Ringtones, Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless launched its first ringback tone service back in November 2004. At the time, ringbacks were only available to customers in some California markets. Today the program is expanding to most Western states, including: Colorado, Utah, Southern Wyoming and Idaho. A ringback tone is the sound that you hear when calling someone (opposed to a ringtone which is the sound you hear when someone is calling). With custom ringbacks you can set music to play instead of a conventional ring. While Verizon was the first national carrier to provide ringback tones, T-Mobile was the first to offer the feature nationally. Ringback tones are available to Verizon Wireless customers for a fee of 99ยข per month. Each tone is $1.99 and is limited to one year of use. You may sign up now online.
