Sony Ericsson Q1 2005

Sony Ericsson has announced earnings for Q1 2005. Highlights of the statement include:

• Net profit of $41 million, down 61% from a year ago
• 9.4 million handsets shipped, up 7% versus last year

As the above numbers show, Sony Ericsson has faced lower profit margins on its handsets. Analysts have criticized the company for focusing on high-end users (P910, W800, K750, etc) which limits the number of units sold.

Samsung reported its Q1 2005 earnings earlier today. Motorola and Nokia will announce Q1 figures on the 20th and 21st respectively.
