NEC has started shipping its super-thin L1 in Hong Kong. At just 11.9mm thick, it's smaller than the Motorola RAZR by a healthy margin (the RAZR is 14mm thick). Feature wise it keeps up with the RAZR:
The L1 is expected to debut soon in Italy, Australia, Russia and China. There are no plans so far to bring it to the US.
A carrier deal is exactly why NEC isn't going to be coming stateside with this. They haven't had a phone in the US market since AT&T Wireless, and even their relationship appeared to have gone south pre-merger.
In the US market, if you can't sell a phone through a carrier then bottom line you just don't sell phones.
Is this thing on the market in Tokyo, yet? Im lost in translation i swear.
That is pretty thin. I wonder why it won't be coming to the US since the RAZR did so well here? Perhaps because they have no other deals with carriers here... But seems like they could work something out. Neat looking phone.
