BlackBerry 7100i for Nextel approved by FCC

Oct 03 2005 - 11:50 AM ET | Research In Motion, Rumor, Sprint Nextel

blackberry-7100i.jpgThe FCC has posted approval documents for another 7100 series phone, this time the 7100i for Nextel and other iDEN networks. Design wise the 7100i matches the other 7100 series phones except for a whip style antenna.

Features of the BlackBerry 7100i include:

  • 240×260 65K color LCD
  • 32MB memory
  • Bluetooth
  • DirectConnect Walkie-Talkie

No word on when the 7100i will ship, but Nextel is definitely the carrier to watch.

As if their last model impressed us enough, here is Research in Motions latest BlackBerry 7100i. What were they thinking when the put that antenna into the design? In terms of features, the 7100i shares most of the features with the 7100t and the 7100g, except for the addition of Push-to-Talk. The "Nextel" name on the screen means the phone will not be introduced in India for a while. Thanks.
