Samsung T809While rumored for quite some time, it is now confirmed that T-Mobile USA will ship the feature-packed Samsung T809. While an official announcement hasn't been made, T-Mobile is showing the slim handset off at the Digital Life expo in New York.

Feature wise the Samsung T809 includes:

  • Bluetooth
  • 2.1" screen with 262K colors
  • Quadband GSM with EDGE
  • Music player
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • microSD (TransFlash) slot

Expect the T809 to hit store shelves towards the end of November for $299 or less.

Good bye RAZR! This looks like an amazing handset. Finally T-Mobile gets some cool stuff before Cingular.

Dave Oct 14 2005

That is an incredibly nice looking phone. Sliders make a lot of sense to me, allowing for large screens in a compact form factor. Now if only someone would make one this size running Series 60!

Tony Oct 23 2005

I really dont know how you can compare a Motorola to this phone. Motorola's phone o/s is extremely horrible. There was nothing great about the RAZR except its size. it was just another version of the v600. Its samsung all the way baby!

Luis Oct 27 2005

Good,,estoy rebien,con mucho calor y vos tia,

Jessie Oct 31 2005

This is an amazing phone. Can't wait till it's out!

Nokka Nov 08 2005

T-mobile here i come.

marco Nov 11 2005

yes, finally t-mobile was first than cingular.. also the motorola pebl is coming to t-mobile.. really t-mobile is getting better. i agree with tony about razr is good only because the size, because the rest is the same like v600.. A+ for t-mobile and samsung

Eric Nov 21 2005

Thank god T-mobile is finally beating Cigular with a phone to match their great service. I can't wait till this comes out. Hopefully it's before the holiday's.

Jessica Nov 28 2005

The official release date is December 9th!!

Nazim Dec 01 2005

Guys, the phone is awesome and everything.. But one thing that is keeping me from this phone is that its made of plastic and not metal. Plastic Phones tend to break easily..
Lets see what comes!

Eric M. Dec 02 2005

Real nice! My only problem is t-mo shows these nice phones but they don't walk the talk. November came and went and no t809. They have great service but lack the cutting edge technology.

Bren Dec 03 2005

Some T-Mobile stores will receive a limited delivery of the T-809 on Monday Dec 5th. T-Mobile customer care will start upgrades to this phone on Dec 9th. T-Mobile was unable to give me the price of the phone stating they didn't know yet. The Dummy display I held was plastic, but they didn't know if the final product would be plastic or metal? The camera appeared to just turn on it's own and not very stable. I currently own the D-415 (who's display has died within 1 year) and want to upgrade to the T809, but not if it's going to be plastic and at a cost of probably $300 or more. Does anyone know for sure if the final product will be Plastic or what the anticipated cost might be?

ben Dec 06 2005

DUDE!!!!! This phone is so Batman!!! i can't wait to see it on my utility belt!!!

Jake Dec 06 2005

The final product does have a plastic shell. But the cameras on the live models are a lot tighter than on the dummy models. Even though it does not have voice dialing, the T809 will be the hottest phone out right now. I bet T-Mobile will sell just as many as the Razr, if not more.

p-diddy Dec 06 2005

Just got off the phone w/ T-mo regarding my bill. My mind thinking of the SE w850i, I asked "when are you getting the phones I see T-Mo releasing in Hungary?" He laughed and said, "I don't know, but we have some phones coming out soon, so keep checking" "Like what?" She told me about the PEBL which I knew, and then this one (I'm here because I was looking for reviews). She said that it will be in most retailers the 12th at a price of $299 with 1 year contract, $249 for two year contract.

this phone is awsome!! I just came back from t-mobile. They havnt released there phones yet... guess whos on the list to get one? ME! This phone is bad ass... the LCD srceen is the nicest i've ever seen! The RAZR looks like one of those free phones compared to this one.

dan Dec 12 2005

Well I have my new T-809! Loving it! This phone is all i expected so much that i dont care about the voice dialing. I intend to keep this phone for a long time. For those who are worried about wether it might break or damage get the insurance it worth it! My hubby's razr started going crazy on him, thank God we had the insurance tmo had a new phone comming to asap! I made sure to put it on mine.

what I love: The bluetooth, the speakera phone is great way better than the razr, Mp3 is wonderful and easy to download, Phonebook is better than my previous phone moto V330-wow can you believe to find a number i had to stroll down one by one on my v330- t809 i just have to put the first letter of my contact and it popps up! reception is better than my v330 about the same as the razr. The screen quality is great, you can't get any better. It has so much more i love about it. . . I truly recomend this phone.

I dont like about it: well no voice dial, it smears as much as the razr, and it takes alot of getting use too, but after you do you wont wantto let it go\1

The next step for this phone is to unlock the mp3 ringer restriction. They remind me of the v710 hardware restrictions that verizon did which was exactly why i switched to tmobile. Total lack of respect for the customer by doing that and here is something similar with this phone :( Greed will have a price and I hope companies like verizon realize the loss of a customer is greater than a little respect to not lock simple features that should never be restricted.

Mike Dec 18 2005

Who's looking to buy a t809. My niece was given one and she doesn't want it. She would rather have a free cheapo phone and a year's service. Asking $450. Brand new in box.

Faith Dec 21 2005

when is this phone being released?

JohnnyC Jan 11 2006

Hey Antix, I had the T-Mobile since it came out and mine finally died after a few years. It treated me good, but no Mp3, No Edge, No Bluetooth, No Video Playback, Nothing. I need to cut down on gadgets I carry around and I think I just found my solution, so I upgraded to the T809 about 20 min ago and should have it in a few days. The only think I am REALLY gunna miss is the QWERTY keyboard. But, I will get over that since I am gaining so much more. You made the right decision.

Selina Jan 13 2006

I received mine last week (first week of jan) and it is the BOMB baby!!! I love it!! I don't care that it does not have voice dailing but I am glad that T-Mobile got some phones with speakerphone capabilities. The only thing I wish I could find is a holster to carry it. I don't like those pouches. Fun phone with great ringtone sound. Plays MP3 ringtones like a champ. Thinking about getting one?? Get it!!
Anyone know anywhere I can get a holster let me know. Thanks!!

saif Jan 15 2006

hey there this phone is hot.. i knew it as soon as i saw the pic, i couldnt sleep and now i have it in my hand... dude my girlfreind wanted to throw away her razor when she saw this babay. t-mob rocks and i think that its about time that t-mob had something like this star trek communicator. i feel like im holding black dynamite when i use this phone.well have to sync it on the comp. havent been able to that ,,lack of time.

christopher Jan 19 2006

Constance Feb 06 2006

Marisela Feb 06 2006

I have great news for you guys I was searching for this samsung t809 phone and I found a great deal through Amazon.com If you get the T-mobile (at least 399.99 plan you get the phone for only $49.99. The special ends feb. 8th so hurry.

Annoyed Feb 07 2006

I was going to buy this phone yesterday on amazon.com but my daughter started crying and I got side tracked, signed on today to buy it and they increased the price another $20! Greedy bastards! Now its $69.99 I'm going to hold out to see if they drop the price again, as for the $150 rebate from amazon I checked the archived rebates and they seem to keep reoffering it.

Mika Mar 02 2006

Im on that phone as soon as its out.

M1NO Apr 23 2006

i got this phone yesterday. its sooooooo nice =].. but im having a promblem with the install program that comes with the phone when u buy it.. i dont know why but when i connect it to my computer, it says its not connected =/ ionooo.. but the phone is efficient and fast

Jazalle Apr 27 2006

If you can't get your phone to connect to your computer, try changing the USB feature to "modem" instead of "mass storage." My laptop recognized it that way!! It's in your Settings>Phone Settings>USB Settings. Anyone know how to unlock it so that mp3's can be played as ringtones and not just alarms??

Liquid May 03 2006

Jazalle, rename your mp3s to 3gp extension. You don't have to use your phone as a modem, unless you want all that sync crap software. I only use transferring to my phone for photos and music. Anyway, if you have a song called song.mp3, rename it to song.3gp, transfer it to your phone, I usualy transfer it to my Other Files folder, then browse to your Other Files folder, and assign the mp3 to your contact, it transfers the .3gp (mp3) to the appropriate place and voila, you're done.

David May 04 2006

hey, everone, i got the phone 2 months ago, and ive had alot of time to mess around w/ it. OK, if u want to be able to set any mp3 as a rintone first of all, u must delete the crappy seether song (Remedy) they had on ur phone by default. Then, put a song in MP3 format and 3gp format (if u do not have a converter, google IMToo 3GP converter, its not the full version, but its ok for our purposes) on ur phone. Go to ur sound settings and u should be able to set the song 3gp format as a ringtone. Save then get out of the sound settings. I know many of u are concerned taht the sound quality of the 3GP song is really bad, but there is some sort of glitch. If u go look at ur sound settings u will see taht the MP3 is set as ur ringtone. Feel free to delete the song in 3GP format. And another thing, u only have to do this once. After this u only have to put the song on ur phone in MP3 format in order to make it a ringtone. If u want to set another song as a ringtone, fo to ur sound settings and just hit the select button over the song. even though it will not change the position of the dot showing ur current ringtone, if u save and go back to the sound settings, u should see the new song as the ringtone. I dont know if this will work 4 everyone, but it worked for me.

Graham Jun 07 2006

Great phone but screen 'fractured' two weeks after getting it from T-Mobile and a day after flying across the Atlantic! Didn't drop it or anything - not a mark on the glass covering the LCD. Apparently I was not supposed to put it in my pocket! (if that's what caused it).

T-Mo will not replace it and they tell me Samsung won't either so I'm screwed. So beware, plastic case is a major problem!! Contact me if you have experienced the same problem.

Maximus Jun 09 2006

3gp won't play in ring tone, but it plays in phone's player and surprisingly I was able to set it as a ring tone. However, it is useless, gives no sound when phone rings. 3gp plays in silent mode.

DIMA Sep 08 2006

Anyone know how to unlock MP3 on this phone? I want it so badly. Please..
