Motorola's 2006 plans

Ron Garriques, head of Motorola's mobile phone unit, gave away some interesting tidbits about next year's plans in an interview with Reuters. According to the piece, Motorola will attempt to play Steve Jobs and announce phones right as they begin shipping (as they did with the ROKR) instead of announcing them months ahead of time as is the norm for the industry. The FCC typically posts approval documents well ahead of phone releases, so the plan may or may not work.

Garriques also mentioned some new form factors for handsets:

Next year it hopes to create similar excitement with new phone designs including one with a rotating cover the user turns to open, a phone with a cover that slides open...

Several Motorola phones are expected to debut in the US soon, including the PEBL and pink RAZR.

My V3 is solid. My L7 SLVR is cool. My Nokia phone has problems and it bulky. I only need Motorola phones now. No more Nokia.
