The HTC Faraday has been launched by Cingular under the name "Cingular 2125". The 2125 is a feature packed Windows Mobile handset that's an update to the popular SMT 5600.
The Cingular 2125 sports:
Cingular is selling the 2125 for $199 after a $99 mail-in rebate. The phone is shipping now.
I was going to get this phone from Cingular, and yes it was on their website. Next day, i didn't see the phone on the website, so i called Cingular. According to them, the phone doesnt exist. So how are we to buy this phone?

Typical!!! This is business as usual at Cingular. Nobody knows anything. Just a bunch of low level, no nothing clerks!! Why do I waste my time with this company????!!!!!
Ummm...this phone IS in Cingular stores and available for sale. My local NJ Cingular store has it and is selling it.
I purchased the SMT5600 three weeks back at a store after it had disappeared from the Cingular website. A couple of days later, the 2125 appeared on the website. I went back to the store asking if they knew about the 2125 and they gave me a blank, confused stare. I then proceeded to call every Cingular store in the area (I'm from Los Angeles) and none of them had heard about the 2125 either (guess none of the employees at Cingular ever check the website). So I was set to return the 5600 to the store and order the 2125 online when it disappeared from the website. I then called the Cingular number listed on the website four separate times to inquire about the 2125 and got the same negative and useless response. 1 - no one has heard of the phone 2- they don't know when or if they (stores or online) will be getting it and 3 - they don't know why it was taken offline (the only plausible explanation being that it *could* be out of stock). I swear, if I hadn't seen the page with my own eyes and read reviews on it I would think this phone didn't exist. I'm tired of this stupid phone bureaucracy. I'm returning my 5600 and going back to Verizon, whose bureaucractic ways I'm at least used to.
I just got through calling Cingulars' warranty exchange department to get my SMT 5600 swapped-out because of a faulty mic circuit. Just before the transaction was completed, I was told that my handset model was out-of-stock and a replacement phone was available instead. So they're sending me a Cingular 2125 which is made by Audiovoxs' parent company and private-labeled for Cingular.
Hope I get better performance out of this new model since I've had my present model replaced four times in a year!
I bought and recieved one of these phones online about a week ago. It came a couple of days later. I just went back to the website and sure enough it is no longer there! I must have bought the only one! My only complaint is the sound quality of the speaker (not on speakerphone). It is not as clear as my old phone (Sony-Ericsson T616) No complaints otherwise.
The phone IS out of stock with no ETA on when new ones come in. I went crazy trying to figure out why they no longer have the phone on their website, then finally called on behalf of my "work" to our cingular corporate account and was informed that, yes, in fact, the phone is out of stock.
And so we wait...
I have Cingular and everytime I call I get different answers. So if I dont like what one person says I'll just hang up and call back. I've used this to my advantage. The 2125 is available still. I just got an upgrade with this and ordered it on 1/8/2006. So just keep calling and someone will eventually know about the phone.
It's back on the website. I hope everyone can relax now.
Does anyone know if you can open them to be used by other companies as verizon or tmobile?? I know cingular sucks, i'd like to use the phone with my current provider, is it possible????
the phones are SIM card locked, you'd have to get it unlocked, if you're unfamiliar with this I suggest having a 3rd party do it for around $50
1) can anyone tell me if the 2125 can work with my outlook express e mail I have set up on my desktop at home?
2) My ISP carrier at home is verizon (since it is my local phone company) but do you think it will pose a problem linking with my cingular cell phone?
3) can one view excel, word or pdf files with the 2125 if an attachment is sent via e mail?
