Freedom Wireless injunction stayed

A federal appeals court has stayed an injunction against Boston Communications Group Inc. and Cingular Wireless, allowing the two companies to continue TDMA pre-paid service. Freedom Wireless recently won a lawsuit regarding patent infringement for pre-paid wireless service that used TDMA.

The stay nullifies a previous judgement that required BCGI and Cingular shut down service with 90-days and pay a 2.5 cent-per-minute royalty to Freedom Wireless during those remaining days.

"We are happy that the appeals court has stayed the injunction," bcgi President and CEO E.Y. Snowden said in a prepared statement. "With this decision in our favor, we are now on solid footing to continue to pursue our appeal."
