Cingular 8125Cingular Wireless has launched the 8125 for business channels. The Cingular 8125 is simply the carrier's version of the HTC Wizard (AKA T-Mobile MDA).

The 8125 is fairly loaded with features:

  • Quad-band GSM plus EDGE
  • Bluetooth and WiFi
  • MiniSD card slot
  • 128MB SDRAM, 64MB flash
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • Slide out QWERTY keyboard

List price is $449.99, but because the phone is available only through business channels pricing will vary based on each account. There is also a version available without a camera. No word on when the device will launch for consumers.

Ivan Feb 10 2006

This phone just became available for sale through Cingular's website for $349. I just ordered mine, so I hope it's worth it!

joe Feb 11 2006

its 349, but look for the $50.00 Mail-in-rebate! I can't wait to get mine!

sueannmolina Feb 11 2006

where did you find the rebate? i'm trying to get this phone. i don't even see it in cingular's website? please help me out! thanks.

Tim Feb 13 2006

It's available on the cingular website for consumers now. I just ordered one. W00pEE!

vikdamonejr Feb 15 2006

I got the 2125 last week but sending it back after seing the 8125. I ordered the 8125 Monday and should here on Wednesday.

Jordan Feb 15 2006

I ordered one too without paying for the plan by seleecting "Upgrade my phone" from my account page. I ended up paying a grand total of $384 for everything, which should arrive two days from now.

Matt S Feb 15 2006

I ordered on on 2/14/06
Does anyone know what is the deal with the Visa Reward Cards that the rebates come on.
Is this a credit card with a fifty dollar credit?
Since this is a Cingular branded phone I wonder if it can be unlocked at some time in the future for Europe travel?

caleywags Feb 15 2006

I assume this phone will support the three gee we have all been waiting for. very interested as to its comparison in speed with verizons sixty seven hundred

david Feb 15 2006

hey jordan, u upgraded yours? so you didn;'t have to renew your contract u just upgraded....
dmilinare@bellsouth.net

Kenny Feb 16 2006

Bought one today at the local store, $269.99 + tax with 2 yr contract... best pricing available.

Nicole Feb 16 2006

Different areas will have different prices based on competition. And sometimes stores can offer added incentives. Also, the phone might not be offered in all areas at this time. I believe $349 is the standard price. Mail-in rebate applied to purchases made by February 14.

Nicole Feb 16 2006

This is a very cool phone tho. I ordered one and it is on backorder until the end of the month. If you are dying to get one, try to find a store that has it in stock!

Matt Feb 17 2006

I just ordered one from the Cingular site. It'll be here Monday! I also upgraded for the $349 with the $50 rebate to follow. I saw the Verizon XV6700 the other night and couldn't wait until it got in the Cingular stores. We'll see on Monday.

frank Feb 17 2006

I bought mine yesterday for 175$ w/2 year contract and there is a 50$ rebate to mail in.
$225 online price
-$25 buy online
-$50 mail in rebate.
WOOO HOOO

cb Feb 18 2006

frank - where did you get it for that price???
unheard of price!

doctorgigahertz Feb 18 2006

Does anyone know if this baby is going to work with 3g when it finally comes out, or if it also works as a laptop modem with a usb cable? It's so new that I can't seem to find any really good specs on this thing.

carpadum Feb 20 2006

does anyone know if this is a touch screen like the palms. do you have to pull the key board out any time you want to call someone?

Travell Feb 21 2006

I just got mine the other day... It is a touch screen and you dont have to pull the keyboard out to make calls. I called cingular and told them i wanted to upgrade my phone.. so I payed $349.99 with a $50.00 rebate

Matt B Feb 21 2006

Finally got mine last night. Very nice phone, much smaller than I expected. Got on wifi at home and work, no problems. Cingular reps tried to sell the Data Plan. No-go for me. Actually, the rebate only works if you get the Unlimited Data Plan. :=(

SKY Feb 23 2006

JUST GOT MINE YESTURDAY, I ORDERED ON THE 19TH..

IT'S NICE , A LIL SMALLER THAN I THOUGHT, BUT WAY NICE...A LIL TRICKY 2 FIGURE OUT!!

Rylee44 Feb 23 2006

I ordered mine Monday night (20th) from calling Cingular. I planned on doing an upgrade because of the price, but I didn't want the 2 yr contract. If you call customer service you can buy it for $349 (2yr), $399 (1yr) or $449 (no contract), then the $50 rebate applies if you get the unlimited data plan. I had the MediaNet unlimited ($20/mo) and they let me keep it, saying that qualifies for the rebate (No PocketPC data plan). I just checked the tracking and the phone will be here tomorrow (Friday 24th), $349 after rebate with 1yr upgrade contract. I cant wait!!!!

Adam Feb 24 2006

Cingular 8125
This phone is a world phone and come unlocked. Says so right on the box.
Got mine two days ago. Anybody else have issues with Microsoft Active Sync? I can't get the phone to sync up with my laptop..

mario Feb 28 2006

what website did you find it for $175 online and is that the cingular 8125

Gary M Gerszt Mar 02 2006

Is anyone having battery issues...I cannot get a days usage from a charge????

Jason Mar 02 2006

Iam a cingular rep for data support. I work with this everday. I must say a very good device. No diffrent from our other smartphone but just the sliding keyboard makes it a must buy.. Its offered threw us for 350 flat. These prices iam seeing is incredible. Maybe it is cause of diffrent areas. But I had this device 7months before it was released to consumers/ Demo test. Some apps at times do get frozen. Example, I downloaded IM+ from handango and it constintly freezes.. Maybe its the software but who knows, its hard to determine. IF anybody comes across this problem with your 8125 just download teh software to a sd memory card and the phone wont come to taht problem. But other than that this phone controls my servers at home and some. Its incredible! And the bowser is perferct. Good enough for a pocket pc..

derek Mar 03 2006

I got mine last wednesday tried to connect to wifi and the phone kept freezing. Cingular sent me a new one now when I have more then 2 applications open it freezes so I am sending it back again and buying a palm treo. Cingular isn't even selling it on their site anymore.

KevinT in Charleston Mar 03 2006

I tried to find it in 2 local Cingular stores (no luck) the tried Best Buy & Radio Shack (no luck). So, being a current Cingular customer (with an expired contract) I tried to buy it online. I couldn't find the 8125 so I ended up having to call Cingular. Their Rep also had trouble finding it, but when she finally did, she said the price (with a 2 yr contract) was $299 minus a $100 rebate = $199 net. That was quite a bit lower than I expected so I'm pretty tickled. FedEx tracking says it's en route. Whoo-hoo!

rita Mar 03 2006

The reason you canlt find it on the web site is becase they had so many orders they sold out. I talked to Cingular rep on 03-03-06 will get more in on 3-5 & 3-11 & again on the 15th. As the orders come in they will put it back on the web site.

rita Mar 03 2006

The reason you don't see it on their site is because they are sold out and they had to pull it from the site. Cingular said they sould get shipment on 03-05 and 03-11-06. should be back on the web site then.

wags Mar 06 2006

I am currently a cingular customer with exp cont in the market for the perfect all in one super perfectly fast device. I want a device that supports every application known to man. do they make such a phone??? I now have the xv6700 from verizon and have been testing out bluetooth gps receivers and their compatibility with the different models. The past six weeks I have tested the treo 650 both from sprint and cingular;the ppc-6700 and the verizon phone I'm using now. I have plans of trying the treo 700 exclusively thru verizon, which has the same os as the 6700's windows 5.0

Breanna Mar 06 2006

I've been using the Cingular 8125 for 3 days now and loving it. I work for Cingular Sales Channel and using it to demo. I'm going to a training/seminar on the device tomorrow morning...can't wait. I think you guys are going to enjoy this move up in the wireless technology :)

spyder Mar 16 2006

Looks great. But it doesn't do 3G. But i will probably get one anyway because I can't wait for the HP6915 to come out.

Mandy Mar 17 2006

can anyone GIFT me this damn sexy thing...cingular 8125..!!!!

Mandy Mar 17 2006

Can anyone GIFT me this damn S~E~X~Y thing....cingular 8125...???

Mark, Chicago Mar 20 2006

So I am very much wanting to get this phone as my new business tool. I am ALL ABOUT having my contacts nearby, carrying docs and spreadsheets around, having caleder info at my fingertips. I also like real-time email and live browsing. However, I will be laying out the cash for this phone. It's alot of money.

Would you get it with NO contract for $450, the 1 year at $399 or the 2 year contract st $300? The phone will be outdated in a year.

For those of you that have the phone I'd love to know about:

1)Internet access speed? Painfully/uselessly slow?
2)The lockups and freezing up that I read about it. Is that an issue? How many times have you had to reset it?
3) Battery life? Terrible I assume?
4) Wi-Fi? Does it work in multiple wifi environments, each keyed differently?
5) PHONE quality? How's the phone itself? Decent? Good? What about the speakerphone
6) Synchronization? All good.

Mike Mar 22 2006

Woo just picked up mine from local Cingular store for $100!! I had big probs with the ATT rollover so they gave me $300 credit to use on phone.

JOHN SMIT Mar 24 2006

THIS PHONE SUX. SENDING BACK TODAY, THANKS FOR CRAPPY ADVICE. YOU PEOPLE SUX TOO!!!

John Mar 25 2006

Anybody know what cingular is planning to do with all of its customers that purchased the 8125 but are unable to sync wirelessly? I understand this is a manufactrs (HTC) problem that I am stuck with. Whats up?

tony Mar 28 2006

ORDER MINE ON 3/20 AND STILL NOT HERE YET. THE REP SAID THAT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER BUT COULDNT TELL ME HOW MUCH LONGER IT WOULD BE, I CANT WAIT ANYMORE, MAYBE I SHOULD JUST GET THE TREO.

Zak Mar 31 2006

Just traded in my almost dead Motorola MPX220 for this beast at Best Buy. What a hassle - but completely worth it. Ended costing me $70!!! It is great so far with no issues and great speed over WiFi, love the utility and functionality. Very versatile and overall a great phone/Pocket PC!!!

434am Apr 03 2006

currently waiting on shipment, anything I NEED to know about this unit prior to receiving?? hopefully will turn out to be pleasent experience and I will not have to chuck this thing out my truck window off our highest bridge.

Vince Apr 03 2006

I got mine last week and so far, I LOVE it!
You do need to know that Active Sync 4.1 SUCKS! If you run any kind of firewall software or VPN client, you will have a tough time getting the sync to work. After configuring McAfee as suggested by Microsoft (certain ports need to be enabled in firewall settings) and disabling the stateful firewall in Cisco VPN, mine is sync'ing OK now - but it was a pain to figure out. Hopefully, Microshaft will figure a way to make Active Sync more friendly in future releases.

sebssI Apr 06 2006

it's a cool device I payed $120 for it from a crack-head also i have the nextel I930 for $90 from a crack-head.

Kellie Apr 10 2006

I have had my 8125 for about a week...Extremely happy and there is definitely some phone envy from my friends and co-workers! Incredible phone! LOVING IT!

JordanW Apr 13 2006

The only problem I have had so far is with syncing contacts. It's not possible as of now apparently, because as a previous poster commented, ActiveSync sucks. And it does. Everything except for Contacts syncs up flawlessly. Awesome phone, awesome camera unless in video mode, where it becomes grainy. Very nice as a media device, music and video play great. My main complaint is figuring out how to shutdown applications without going through Start > Settings > System > Memory > Running Programs.
If anyone has a fix for the contacts sync issue, or can enlighten me about the terminating programs method, post URL or email me.

JordanW Apr 13 2006

Email is JordanWelbourne@gmail.com

JordanW Apr 13 2006

also major issues with installing programs/games. The classic "x is not a valid pocketpc application" message.

sgentles23 Apr 24 2006

I just bought this phone and i love it. Im looking for some cool programs or games to add to my phone. any suggestions..hopelfuly some free ones.

JJ May 01 2006

The 8125 will not support 3G. I just got mine, does anyone knowwhere I can get an extra battery. I do know for all you peeps complaining of battery life tweak the backlit settings and be sure to turn off WiFi when not in use as well as MSN and thiswill more than doublw your battery life.

SHR May 02 2006

If it comes unlocked, I can use other sim card first without having Cingular knows about it? It is just that I will travel abroad very soon and I want to use a cheaper local sim card. Can I still access Wifi without Cingular sim?

thanks

Dame May 04 2006

nick May 04 2006

r u sure that when you buy this phone from cingular that it is already unlocked what does "world phone" mean

Johnny May 08 2006

I got this phone for my birthday and its been treating me very, very well. The battery life has not been a problem at all, actualy ive been impressed with it. I love haveing microsoft word and Excel with me at all times and the 1.3 megapixel camera amazes me every time. Ive had it freeze up once in the past 4 days sence I've owned it but I'm not too worried about it. I havent explored all of its other features yet but so far this is a must have!

Craig May 10 2006

You need to know how to use a computer #1, adjust your settings and tune your firewalls #2, understand what the heck your PC is doing behind the GUI #3. Oh, it also helps if you know how to READ - RTFM! It doesn't come unlocked! It also helps if you learn to use a real cool thing on the internet called GOOGLE and find out some of these utterly ridiculous questions for yourself. Very dim people.

www.sunpowtech.com May 25 2006

Is anybody know the original battery code of cingular 8125

Kaitlyn Jun 03 2006

I'm teetering bw Motorola Q & 8125. Any feedback or input?

ken Jun 15 2006

Nokia 8125 owners can you please enlighten me into buying this phone. I love the design and features of the phone. But i heard some negative remarks upon it. Some say, it freezes and difficult to close the screen. And, other say, its perfect. Is it worth getting one? Thank you to all.

Tony Jun 21 2006

Got my 8125 just over two weeks ago. Have been back and forth to Europe twice and it works like a dream over there too. Syncing with AS 4.1 does leave somoe barriers as other posts have explained. With me Outlook E-mail, Tasks, and Contacts are all okay, but no Calendar (weird). If anyone has any ideas why one part of Outlook won't work, when others do I'd appreciate any advice. I'm thinking it's relevant ports on the fiurewall, but since these are locked by my company, I can't see which are set and which are not as compared to the MS article. Either way, I love it.

Will Jun 24 2006

I was a customer care/consumer data support rep that now works at a store and I can not keep this phone in stock. If you have one email address its awesome. I can watch HBO at work with just the EDGE network almost skip free. When I connect through wifi, no skips at all. The other phone I can't keep is the BB 8700 only because it can do multiple email inboxes without having to log out of one and log into the other one. I am not a Palm fan at all but haven't played with the Palm 700w yet but I just played with the Moto Q. I prefer the 8125 because its a little thicker and it has the slide keyboard with bigger keys. The Q just reminds me of the Treo too much.

I was lookin at this phone in the store, and they say i need a data package. do u have to have the data plan to access the web? if it has wifi why does it need a data package? if u don't get a data plan will i be charged an insane amount per kb used?

Josh Aug 09 2006

OK so some of you are pretty dim as Craig has said way up there. This phone is very easy to use. I am 19 and I could figure this thing out right out of the box. I love everything about this phone. I think that the phone call quality is very good, the speaker phone, is a bit to be desired. The phone can be a little slow sometimes, but to keep it from being too sluggish you have to make sure that after you "close" a program that you go to start, settings, memory, running programs....and make sure it is off, if not...turn it off...it is that simple. I save a lot of music on my 8125, so I had to buy a sd card for mine...you should do the same if you like tosave anything on your phone... Overall the phone is great...the internet is a bit slow but it is better than a dial up connection for sure!
I highly recommend this phone to everyone! And no you do not have to buy the $30 a month pda internet connection, just get the regular internet for regular phones, it is only $20 a month and it is the exact thing...trust me don't let them make you pay any more money than you have to...it will not make the internet any faster...you do not even have to have the 20 dollar a month one but it is for unlimited usage so that is what i recommend...even very little usage can be very costly without the unlimited plan...my first internet bill was over 80 just for internet!!!(without the unlimited plan)I highly recommend this phone to everyone...it is even better than the sidekick!!!

Jon Aug 10 2006

Wirefly has it for $99.00

Paul Aug 10 2006

I just ordered mine from cingular I hope it is as good as you say it is.. I'll See on Monday.

Mike C Aug 11 2006

The PDA package is cingular's EDGE internet, completely unrelated to wifi. Use wifi when you are near public hotspots or at home. Use the PDA connect anywhere. No you do not have to have the PDA connect package for the WiFi to work.

for anyone wanting more information on these, go to www.howardforums.com and search for 8125

there is also an XDA developers site with lots of info, don't have the link handy right now.

Vince Aug 27 2006
