Last night Verizon brought us the Fygees reunion concert, but in addition they also appear to be the first cell phone provider to leverage a new technology that allows a subscriber to purchase tickets directly onto their mobile phones. Verizon used text messaging to notify and invite interested fans to the show, but also offered tickets to V Cast subscribers via a PIX Message to the subscribers phone "that contained a unique barcode that was scanned at the show entrance", in addition to more traditional ticketing methods.
Verizon also broadcast the entire concert on their V Cast Music Web site, in addition to offering exclusive concert footage and and audio recordings to their V Cast subscribers.
