What a bad generalization of the myspace community. Just because the kids on there may be poor, it doesnt mean thier parents are. and how would you know they are poor to begin with? you're an asshole. and whats more, if you researched Helio a little more before typing away, you'd realize these phnes will be under $300 and are piggy backing on Sprint. The cost will not be outrageous. i suppose its still a little too expensive for us poor, welfare myspacers.

Generally speaking, MySpace users are unsophisticated and live in lower income households. At least, this is how the demographic was frequently described internally the last time I was at the MySpace offices. Not surprising, if you ask me. Poor people often over-spend on things like cellphones; which is what makes this campaign brilliant.

I am actually happy that myspace is going mobile because they have blocked it at my school. I would however like to know what the fees are going to be and when the estimated launch date will be.

Give me a break. those of you generalising the income level of the myspace user base must yourself feeling that you belong in an income bracket that's lower than your ego.

They are using the web as the next generation, and though in general they are not rich (as with the general population), phone prices will come down and it is really the trend that's important and not the cost of a korean, american, finnish cell phone.

Many Myspace.com users may in fact be much poorer than the general population, but as a student, I know it is largely due to the fact that many are paying tuition bills. While those costs may be high and budgets are minimal, social life and communication with friends is a major priority. With the networking and messaging technology Helio is offering in these new phones, I think they are clearly targeting the right demographic.

I think the Amp'd phone is far better than the Helio, it has cool games, content and the UI is really slick. Plus, I am not to keen on everyone knowing my business on My space anyway.

The launch of this phone intruiged me because of the mention of myspace mobile. So I looked into it and ended up here. I read all of your posts and here's my 2¢.

I'm browsing this page, and manage my myspace account from a T-mobile sidekick. Helio having myspace mobile really means nothing, because the sidekick can view myspace as it is on the internet without having to subscribe to some stupid simplistic version of myspace. And also, myspace kinda sux. The phones that have built in iTunes, and video playback are much better. Helio will probably make a lot of money on this venture, but that just because the ignorant masses ooh, and ahh over hype like this.

Get a sidekick, they are much much better phones.

i wish helio was on cingular or verizon because out of all the phones i love how this one looks they say helio doesnt even have mobile to mobile

many of you who have written comments about this phone clearly have not played with a helio phone and possibly don't have a myspace, so there is no place for your two cents. many people on myspace are 'poor' ? that is because many of the users are under the age of 21, which means we are stuck in college, living at home and working a little over minimum wage jobs, so technically i don't think the word poor is the current term to use.

as for the helio phone, it is amazing. the video quality on the kickflip isn't as nice as the hero though, but the kickflip looks a lot nicer because it has the 'asian cell phone' look, while the hero has more of a pda look.
one cool thing about the kickflip is that you can connect it to a car dvd player and watch your videos on it using a cable, which is a great thing for me to hear because i'm running my video ipod through my in-dash. also, they have a itunes syncing program available which allows to put your ipod music on your phone without redownloading it all over again (one thing i hated about upgrading to the new video ipod, i had to redownload my 4000 songs).

for the person who wrote that the sidekick is better. you have got to be kidding me. not only is t-mobile's coverage incomparable to sprint (well in hawaii atleast) but after talking to a new friend that works for helio they are signing a contract with verizon too. the sidekick may have full internet access, but the time you spend waiting for the pages to load is time you can be spending doing something else. as for the myspace users, the sidekick access to myspace is horrible. helio's phone has instant broadband type access to myspace. and also you can take pictures on your phone and upload them straight to your myspace or to myspace comments, and you are given more myspace pictures with a purchase of a helio phone if im not mistaken. also, the picture quality on the sidekicks are the ugliest i have seen yet. the helio's, on the other hand, is 2 megapixels and of course will never compare to a digital camera, but beats out many phones in the market (many phones sold in america, that is)

so take it from a verizon wireless employee, a myspace user, a 'poor' only making nine dollars an hour + commission, while attending a university -- the helio phone is the next new thing. as soon as i get my next paycheck i'm going to buy it -- money well spent. my only wish is that they hurry and come out with some new phones that offer both the high video quality and the look of the kickflip, so i can experience the best of both worlds.

i am speaking about this phone from first hand experiences. i too was questioning the phone and service, until the other day i met a representative from helio who was looking for hawaii stores to carry the phone, and i was given a demonstration and time to demo it.

you've got to be kidding me. reading back onto Evan's post, i can agree on the statement that "anyone can have a myspace, not just poor people", and at over 100 million users, i don't see how it's possible for you, or anyone, to have searched through even 1\4 of the users to come close to your generalization.. unless you literally have no time on your hands. i think you're forgetting something.. the "lower income" american citizens "generally speaking" are poor, right? so what makes you think that they'll blow their paychecks on a computer along with the internet? to prove your theory correct that most myspace users are poor and "unsophisticated"? have you met the people you generally speak of? and with the US House voting to ban myspace use in public libraries and schools, i don't see the lower income class going there to prove you right either.

well i own a t-mobile sidekick 3 i also use myspace through my phone. if the myspace system on the helio phone's are pages just like the ones used through a normal web browser. find that address and go through it on your phone. if thats all possible. if the helio phone utilizes a MySpace application i guess you'd have to stay using myspace the non-mobile look on your phone. i have no comment for either the phone or myspace.

Just want to let everyone know how I despise Helio! I got their phone and subscribed but I canceled it an hour after I had it activated. The internet is UNLIKE sidekicks or t-mobile mda. And its all false advertising. To top it off they still haven't returned my credit check of $150. I have been waiting for it for 3 months now. They suck and they are greedy too since they are earning interest of off people's refunds!!!
