The K800 is not Dual band it is dual mode UMTS and GSM. It is a Triband phone 900/1800/1900 with UMTS/3G 2100.

Why can companies just make their phone quad-band instead of making 2 different versions of the same phona and only the frequency changes???

So this is my understanding: one version with 900/1800 + UMTS/3G 2100 and the other version (America's) with 900/1800/1900. Am I correct? Will the 850-band be lacking?

The K800i is a 3G phone, it means you can have the advanced sevice of video calling. The K790 doesnt have the 2 way camera for video calling ie. its cheaper other than that theyre the same. So if you are interrested in Video calling (which I personally dont care about) then go for the more expensive on 800i.

The phone will probably be availabe in the middle east by May or Maximum June. at the moment here in Dubai the W810i is out and its popular here, already out of stock in some shops!

I just bought a k800i and everything is unbelievable. Pictures are great, I havent messed with best pic too much but it seems to work pretty well. The only thing is I live in the U.S. and so far my service has been crap! This phone works on the same frequency as my last one and somehow the service here is horrible! Besides that good phone, very exspensive though. I got mine for about 400 via Ebay... that was the cheapest I could find.
