Verizon trying to buyout Vodafone's wireless stake

Verizon is reportedly trying to buyout Vodafone's stake in Verizon Wireless. The two companies jointly control Verizon Wireless, the USA's number two carrier. Vodafone's 45% share in the venture should be worth a bundle, but so far no numbers have been tossed arround.

AT&T's planned merger with BellSouth set off a frenzy of telecom merger rumors. Besides Verizon going after Vodafone, some analysts think Verizon could make a play for ALLTEL.
