CTIA 2006 -- Current third-party Mobile TV leader MobiTV has surpassed the million subscriber milestone. The numbers weren't broken down by geographic area, so it's hard to tell how many of these subscribers are in the US (MobiTV's service is available on 20 mobile networks worldwide). Just six months ago the company announced it reached 500,000 subscribers.

TV channels available for live viewing through MobiTV include: MSNBC, ABC News Now, CNN, Fox News, Fox Sports, ESPN 3GTV, NBC Mobile, CNBC, The Discovery Channel, and TLC. Most subscribers pay around $10 per month.

Mobile TV will be a big topic at this year's CTIA conference. Most of the discussion will center around multicast solutions such as MediaFLO and DVB-H. MobiTV currently relies on the data networks of carriers to send TV programming.
