MobiTV nets $70M C-round investment

Mobile TV startup MobiTV has inked a $70 million series C venture capital investment led by Oak Investment Partners. MobiTV is the current market leader in mobile TV and has over a million subscribers spread over 20 carriers globally.

MobiTV sends live TV streams over the carrier data network to each subscriber. Later this year the company will face competition from multi-cast standards such as MediaFLO. It's much cheaper to only send out one signal (like conventional TV is done) than use the expensive data networks.
