LG FUSIC launched by Sprint PCS

May 24 2006 - 04:00 PM ET | LG Mobile Phone, Sprint Nextel

lg fusicSprint has launched the sleek LG FUSIC (formally known as the LG550), a handset we first heard about this year at CTIA. Much like Motorola, LG has been attempting to create brandable names for some of its higher profile launches. This started in the North American market by rebranding the VX9800 as the "V" and has continued with the Chocolate line that is currently available in Korea.

As the name implies, the LG FUSIC is a music centric handset. It's the first handset in the US to ship with an FM transmitter so that you can listen to your phone's music through a car or home stereo without extra cables. Other goodies include:

  • Bluetooth (with A2DP support for stereo headsets)
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • microSD card slot (64MB card included)
  • EV-DO, with Sprint Music Store support for over-the-air music downloads
  • External music control keys

The LG FUSIC will be available through Sprint starting on May 28th. It will cost $179.99 after rebate with a two-year service agreement. It's an exclusive to Sprint and will come with four faceplates: blue, green, pink and black.

i just bought this phone yesterday after breaking the slick sprint blade...the blade was alright i thought but had too many technical problems...the LG fusic is amazing

Mike Jun 12 2006

This phone is cool Love the Phone itself, but the main reason i wanted the Fusic is to play MP3's for free....but you have to buy each song. The memory that comes standard is 64mb which is alrite but compared to the memory from the SLVR it comes with 512mb which equals up to 100 songs.
I can Upload music to the fusic through the usb but i cannott access it through the external media player.

im thinking but getting a SLVR and ending my Sprint service

Nami Tami Jun 13 2006

I love this phone. I downloaded 16 songs from my PC to the phone via USB cable very fast and very easy. The only difficult part was finding the USb driver online. The phone handles like a dream and teh MP3 quality is amazing. TEN times better that the Blade.

Pros- Awsaome phone

Con- Unfortunately I can't watch downloaded movies on my phone :(

Jax Jun 13 2006

I just bought this phone 2 days ago and it's absolutly amazing, awesome color quality, light weight, cute & stylish, very user friendly.. best sprint phone I've owned so far.

Matt Jun 15 2006

I downloaded the driver but now what do i do???

Matt Jun 15 2006

I downloaded the usb driver but then what do i do....?

drewmcv Jun 17 2006

install the driver, plug in the phone using usb, in tools on the phone, tell the phone to act as usb drive. et voila the drive shows p under my computer. Be sure to go into media player on the phone first so it creates the rights folders. Then just drag on drop your mp3's to the media folder.

Penny Jun 17 2006

I just bought this phone and love it but I am having problems with the driver as well. I have downloaded it and followed the instructions above but am still having problems. It says that it is connected but there is no driver located in my computer.

Jayn Jun 18 2006

Just got the phone and can access the memory card through the USB but then can't find the music on the phone. Media player on the phone doesn't see the music file.

Jordan Jun 18 2006

ok were i stay my phone would be roaming, would sprint drop me as a suscriber if i make alot of calls while roaming?

Andy Jun 18 2006

Is there anyway that I can use the mp3s that I transfered from my computer to my phone as ringtones???

adam Jun 21 2006

what program did you use to edit stuff on your phone? BitPim is not working for me.

Johnny Jun 24 2006

I just set up the phone as a usb flash drive while it was connected with the usb drive and it connected immediately, no drivers required, they were already on the phone and it set it up when going to tools and setting it up as a flash drive. I dragged and dropped a few tunes onto it, and viola, I am listening to music on the phone. The qulaity is a lil under par, but thats the issue with the quality of the download I received. I also think the volume could be tweaked, but again it all starts with the quality of the media that is started with. Enjoy peeps

Justin r Jun 24 2006

hi i love this phone just bought it 2 days ago and can't put it down you can also play your mp3's through any frequency on any stereo it's awesome. I love this phone it's awesome i was thinking about getting the blade and it looked like it would have problems. you all can send me any comments on this phone at jensensk8er@yahoo.com later

Dustin Jun 26 2006

So let me get this clear, you can put mp3 files, you already have, onto this phone (not paying for download) and use the media player feature to play them on the phone or over an fm frequency correct?

Also, does anyone know how much memory this phone supports? (in the form of a microSD card) I've seen up to 1 gb microSD cards, but can this phone support that much?

Jfusic Jun 26 2006

I just bought the phone today, seems cool so far.

I read on Cnet that it will support up to 2gig sdcards (I didn't know there were any that large, but cnet said it).

I was also trying to use bitpim to transfer my old phone book and all from my other verizon lg phone, but having no luck :( any help?

ashley Jun 27 2006

I have a Macbook and the above driver download is not working on my computer. Does anyone know where to find is in the Mac OSX version? I tried just connecting the phone to my laptop using the USB flash drive but my computer doesn't recognize it and nothing pops up on the screen it doesn't even recognize something is in the USB drive. help please?

Russ Jun 28 2006

So I just bought the Fusic yesterday, but I can't figure out how to use the FM Transmitter. The User Guide says to active the music transmitter during music playback by going to Options>Music Transmitter>On. However, I don't see that option in the menu while I'm playing music. Anyone have any suggestions?

Jfusic Jun 28 2006

Russ, when you open the phone while music is playing and hit options, the transmitter is option 0, at the very bottom. Or, justs hit options, then 0 and it'll come on :) Just make sure you first go to the menu, tools, and then fm transmitter and set the station you want to transmit to.

LovingDaFusic Jun 28 2006

I love this phone so much. the quality of the voice training, ability to dictate text messages (which I haven't figured out) and on the subway, it' rivals the looks of those normally addicted to the newest trend. It's fashionable, small enough to go dancing iwth, and I just friggin love it.

TJ Jun 28 2006

I have a question about adding music from your computer. How do you make a new folder in your media player? and what is the "driver" supposed to look like under "my computer" because mine says "Removable Disk (F:)". Thanks

HyToFry Jun 30 2006

You don't need drivers to put music on your phone. Plug it in to the computer. Go into the following menus:

Tools ->
USB Flash Drive

Now your computer will recognize the phone (without using drivers) and give it a drive letter (like F: for example.) If you go to that drive, there should be a folder called "Media" Drop some mp3's (or folders of mp3s) in that folder. Let it finish copying. Click in the system tray (that's the icons by the clock) to "safely remove drive (whatever it assigns it, likely F:)" and then, after it says "safe to remove device" unplug your phone. Now go back into the media player, then over to "Memory Card" and browse for the song you want.

Now we just need to find the drivers for the modem/file structure. :(

HyToFry Jun 30 2006

Oh. Be sure to go into the media player and trying to play media from the memory card at least once before trying to connect your phone to the computer.

HyToFry Jun 30 2006

Now that *that's* out of the way.

Has anyone found any modem drivers at all that *will* work with this sweet phone? I imagine the bitpim drivers will be in the same bundle, but you never can be sure I guess.

Please Note: I'm not asking how to get music on my phone, how to get drive letter access, or how to set mp3's as my ringtones. The first two were easy, and the third won't happen 'till we get the drivers working.

nicole Jun 30 2006

ya i just got my phone but how do i get my music from itunes to someother thing so i can get it on my phone.

max Jul 02 2006

Can you transfer songs from computer to Fusic and set them as ringtones? If so, then how?

Eric Jul 03 2006

I LOVE THIS PHONE! So far so good. Just bought in 2 days ago and I can't put it down. Anyone knows where to buy extra memory card? Thanks!

Eric Jul 03 2006

I LOVE THIS PHONE! So far so good. Just bought it 2 days ago and I can't put it down. Anyone knows where to buy an extra memory card and the limit? Thanks!

Eric Jul 05 2006

I bought this phone 2 week ago. Everything was great, but I don't like the fact that when playing music or using the web, the phone can not accept incomming calls.

I tried to transfer ringtons, address book and screen saver from computer to the phone using snapsync, datapilot, and bitpim. But neither of them worked. Science none of them is compatible with this phone.

I like the fact that this phone has the expandable memory slot. I bought a 1 Gb microSD card for just about $45 and stored tons of music on the phone.

To answer the question from Eric in the previeous comment. You can go the shopping.com, pricegrabber.com and search for microsd card. You will find alot of online store selling memory card for this phone.

T. Jul 06 2006

So far so good. I'm really enjoying my new FUSIC. Has anyone found out how to use music loaded from your PC as ringtones?

jon Jul 07 2006

thats weird u might want to get it checked out if it not tranfering over to calls while listening to music thats one of its basic feature and as far as music as ringtone ringtones are a whole different format u need a program on ur computer that lets u change it to that format pick what part of the song u want as the ringtone cause ringtones are shorter then u need to transfer it to ur computer

Bree Jul 07 2006

I love my phone!!! I got it for free for signing a 2 year agreement in Grand Rapids Michigan. They had a promotion. Now that this website has helped me to be able to install the driver, I am always playing my music on it, for free!! I have a question for anyone, is the micro SD adapter supposed to fit into a memory card slot in my computer? Mine doesn't fit, do I need another adapter?

jon Jul 07 2006

it shoudl ahve been in the box with the phone its a normal size sd card that the micro sd fits into and the normal size sd should be able to plug into ur computer if u have a new computer

jon Jul 07 2006

ohh if u saying ur adapter doesnt fit u need to buy this http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=13038&cat=1014&page=1

Tracy Lovell Jul 08 2006

I am trying to download music running on an X10 system through mac. Anyone know where i can download the usb info

Nancy Jul 08 2006

I'm having trouble downloading music to the fusic does anyone know of an ez way.. its getting pretty frustating

jfusic Jul 08 2006

Nancy, First, make sure you inserted the microSD card that came with your phone into the slot that says MicroSD. Then use the USB cable that should have come with your phone to plug it into your computer. Now on the phone, go to Menu, tools, and the last option on that screen is USB flash drive, select it. Now you should be able to look in My Computer on your computer and you should see another drive there, which is your phone. You can just copy mp3s from your computer drive into the Media folder on your phone. When you do that, you should be able to play the songs from your memory card. Hope that helped, sorry for the long post.

If not, give me more details on what it's not doing, or why you can't get it working and maybe I can help.

FusicMig Jul 14 2006

I just got the phone and its great but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to transfer the music that I uploaded from my computer to the memory card option under media player? I'm only able to play it through Tools and then memory card. How do I use da MP3 controls on da front of the phone for my phone too? And how do I get to the FM Transmitter, I went to options while the music was playing and I found nothing. HELP ME PLEASE!!!
Fusic Maniac

JFusic Jul 14 2006

FusicMig, what you need to do to use the FM transmitter is first, go into tools, FM Transmitter and set a channel to transmit to. Find a channel in your area that has as little radio traffic as possible, like all static, and set it to that. Then when you start playing music, go to options, and down at the very bottom option is the FM transmitter, hit that and then turn your radio to that station and there ya go!

hope that helped.

Jorge Jul 15 2006

i know this question has been asked a million times but nobody seems to know the answer. I already converted my mp3 to qcp files, and tranfered them to my fusic but i still cant use them as ringtones. Does anybody know how to do this. thanks for any info.

JFusic Jul 16 2006

I THINK that LG/Sprint don't want to allow you to do that, they'd rather you buy ringtones *roll eyes*. Now that normally doens't mean you can't, it just means we're gonna have to wait until people smarter than us create a program that lets us do it. I'm waiting on people to figure out how to do it with Bitpim, I doubt it'll be too long.

jessica Jul 16 2006

How can you use the songs you upload from your computer as ringtones?!

FusicMig Jul 17 2006

Hey JFusic, when you say go to options while playing my music, do you mean music played from my memory card in tools or music played from the memory card in media player? Because, when I play music from my memory card in Tools, I can't close my phone to play the music, or the program just shuts off. How do I get the music to play with my phone closed, does this mean I have to buy music for that? And I went to options, and there is no option for FM Transmitter. HELPPPP!!!

Madison Jul 17 2006

Just got mine and I love it, I just wish I could use one of my songs for my ringtone, because I really don't want to spend 2 bucks on a ringtone that they probably don't even have what I want. Anyways... *waits patiently*

Lil Jul 18 2006

Hello 2 get free ringtones go to 3gforfree.com on ur phone...n Please does any1 kno about playin music frm ur memory card wit ur phone closed:( PLEASE HELP

>adriananana! Jul 20 2006

to get the FM TRANSMITTER TO WORK go to..menu>>tools>>music transmitter>> pick any freaking button, input a frequency that is normally dead, for me it's 89.7. press "freq. save", then "channel save", exit all that crap. open up media player>>memory card, play your songs... then go to options>>music transmitter on. oh yeah, make sure the radio is on the RIGHT frequency, it helps to adjust the radio after you turn on the transmitter. once you did this the first time, for subsequent times all you need to do is turn on music transmitter to work!

to get some SONGS ON YOUR FUSIC!. . . . get your beautful usb cable that came with the phone, plug one end into the phone and the other into the computer. IGNORE anything that attempts to install your "new device" on the computer. open up your phone, go to menu>>tools>>USB flash drive (should be option #), press "yes" to continue. wait a few seconds. now go to my computer and find the phone, on my personal computer it is labeled "removable disk", for you it could be anything. open that up and copy and paste your songs into the "media" folder. it's really easy!

i hope this helps. if anyone knows how to make my mp3s into ringtones, that would be super nice!!

adriananana!

adrianana Jul 20 2006

okay, here's a really ghetto way to get your songs into the phone and use them as ringtones

use voice memo! get your phone and make a new voice memo, record the song that way. save the song so you can remember it. (menu, tools, voice memo, record new)

when you are done, click on the brand new recording and choose "set as", then follow all that stuff for setting the "ringtone" for your friends and what not.

i know the sound quality isn't that great, but if you work with the sound equalizer on your computer a bit you can make your new ringtone a little bit more decent.

i did this on my old pm225 and it worked out great!

adrianana Jul 20 2006

to play the music from your phone with the phone closed, you have to press and hold down the center button on the front until it unlocks. then you press and hold the button down again until you get two icons: one on the left is the channel listing icon, the one on the right is the memory card icon. if you have songs on your memory card, choose the icon on the right. then select the song you want to play using the arrows, choose with the middle button. use the left and right to change song or hold them down to fast forward/rewind. you may have to unlock the buttons again by holding down the center (play/pause) button... hope this helps!

Kirsten Jul 20 2006

Just got the fusic, and I also love it. Question...anyone download any of the tv stations yet? I am interested in dowloading "comedy central", and it says it costs 6.95. Is that a monthly charge, or an overall total? I noticed with the sirius stations it said "5.95/mo", so I wasn't sure bc this didn't. Anyone done this yet?

Kirsten Jul 20 2006

Love the fusic!

Question: Anyone downloaded any tv stations yet? Interested in getting "Comedy Central", but want to know if the 6.95 price is a one time charge, or a monthy charge, because it doesn't say. Anyone purchased yet who can answer this?

Thanks!

KrisG Jul 20 2006

Regardign all othe Mac users: On the Mac yo do not need to do anything different than on the PC: plug the USB cable into phone and into your Mac, then ON THE PHONE, go to Tools > Either scroll down to "USB Flash Drive" or hit #. Hit "Yes" when it tells you it needs t disrupt incoming calls, then VOILA! the phone will show up on your desktop just like any other USB drive does. Once you click on that icon, you'll go into the "media" folder and you can transfer files directly from iTunes or any other folder.

george Jul 21 2006

To convert songs from your pc to ringtones you can use focus uploads at sprintusers.com. Just make sure the files are aac files. (You can convert your files using switch, its downloadable with a probram called wavelength.)

Tom Jul 22 2006

This phone is great. I love every single thing about it. The only problem I have is text messages; I am getting them right away with no delay but the time stamp is about four minutes behind. I know it's not the phone, but the network. Anyone else experiencing this?

please email me w/ a answer at:
orangeluva@hotmail.com

Jfusic Jul 26 2006

FusicMig I don't have that problem of music shutting off when I shut the phone lid :-/ So I can't really help you. Wonder if the different versions of the phone for different services vary a bit?

Brii, I don't think you need a disk or drivers to transfer music to your phone. All you have to do is hook the phone cable to your pc, then on your phone, go to tools -> usb flash drive and you should see a new drive in My Computer crop up. If your card is inserted then just create a directory called media and you can put you music there.

But also, to get drivers for the connection from the phone to computer (even though not needed for file transfer) you can go to sprint.com, enter your account, and there is a section there to download drivers, just pick your phone from the list. I'm too tired now to find out exactly where, but I'll try and help again if you have trouble.

bryant Jul 27 2006

does anyone know of a program that will convert the music files to a smaller file so that i can put more on my phone

steve Jul 30 2006

http://www.poikosoft.com/ hey teran, i just found this in the a900 forum, its the converter program. this works so cool, like i said in that board, it cut a clip that was 14mb down to 4, most of my songs are now like 1.6-2 mb each, its so freakin sweet. its a trial program so for now just convert all your files to AAC, the quality goes down a bit of course but its still good in my opinion. its a good fix for now, i plan on getting the 512 or 1Gb microsd card, then i can have regular mp3 and now worry about space limitation.

Hey I have a LG vx7000, i recently purchased a usb cable with a driver installation disk. I have windows xp on my system, it states the driver is installed but nothing is recognized under my computer. Please let me know if there are any other resources to fix the problem or if I'm doing something wrong.

Cristina Jul 30 2006

I bought the Fusic a couple of days ago (what's with everyone and "two days ago? haha!) and today I decided I was going to put some music on that little 64mb card. Well, I have an iPod, like Bryant commented, and I tried to put some iTunes mp4 songs onto it. Well, they went on just fine, but aren't recognized in the mp3 player. Sprint's customer service wasn't particularly helpful as far as figuring out if the Fusic could or couldn't play these or if there was any way to enable them to be played, but they did point me in the right direction to find out. I checked out www.lge.com (LG's website) and looked up the Fusic, and I found that it only supports some mp4 formats. Now, the Sprint guy said that there might be some updated drivers available sooner or later for it, but with Apple being proprietary about their stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if it can't and won't happen.

The only way I can think of to get around this is to gather up the CD's (sorry if you didn't buy them, but downloaded and converted your songs to iTunes' format- I haven't been able to convert it to anything else yet!), go into the Windows Media Player, and copy them as .wma's. These are supported just fine, though the compression isn't nearly what I'd like.

Other than that little caveat, I love this phone. The signal could be improved, but hey, since when is that something new? I'm excited to try out the FM transmitter tonight, maybe I'll post about it.

If you have any questions about the research I've done on this phone and the music stuff, you can e-mail me at wrongling@hotmail.com

teran Jul 31 2006

thanks so much steve

teran Jul 31 2006

Thanks steve for the program, but I'm having a problem. When I convert the music to an ACC file it actually makes it bigger than the mp3 file. The file that makes it the smallest is the wma but it doesnt recognize it in the media player. I can go to the memory card on my phone and find it in the media folder but I cannot actually play it in the media player. Any help?
Thanks

Converting MP3 to ringtones and best tool to use etc.

A couple things to note. The phone normally rings for only 25-30 seconds before it kicks into voicemail so you need to pick a song or portion of a song that is about 30 seconds.

There are various software tools you can use to clip portions of a song etc. This website has a decent tutorial on how to clip a portion of a song and save it as mp3 http://www.mrbass.org/ringtones/

Once you get the song clip you want as a ringtone convert it to m4a using Quicktime Pro. Upload it to your phone as a ringtone.

gdawg Aug 02 2006

ok so once you have shortened and converted the song to an m4a how do you up load it to you phone so that it will be a ring tone?

The Q Aug 02 2006

I should have noted that when you convert your ringtone/songs to m4a you should tone down the settings so that it takes less space. The audio quality on a phone isn't that great so you probably won't need it to be the best quality.

Anyways once you have your m4a ringtone, if you have sprint vision then I would suggest you just send it to your phone using rumkin. http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php.

upload the song/ringtone and send it to your sms enabled phone. It will provide a link for you to download the file.

There is the URL to a program that allows you to make your music into ringtones.

uvamarkg Aug 05 2006

I have this phone paired with my Acura TL for wireless calls, but I was wondering if there is a way to use the bluetooth connection to transmit audio? The FM transmitter works OK, but it would be much better to use the A2DP interface like with wireless headphones. Anyone have any ideas?

mrplyrhtr Aug 05 2006

is there aNY WAY YOU CAN VIEW SONGS YOU TRANSFER TO THE FUSIC THROUGH CATEGORIES SUCH AS SONG,ARTIST,ALBUM, OR PLAYLIST???????????

Mark Aug 06 2006

Does anyone know how to put a mp3 on the micro card and then make it a ringer ?

Mark Aug 06 2006

I can already make 20 to 30 seconds song clips but can't get it to play from the micro card as a ringtone......PLEASE help me !!!!! THANKS markv90068@yahoo.com

Andrea Aug 06 2006

I have an ibook and just recently purchased a Fusic.
It won't accept my mp3 iTunes files.
Sprint rep says their not compatible and that I need a pc.
Why did I buy this phone?
Any suggestions?

Mark Aug 06 2006

Andrea....no I don't think you need a pc but you do need to make the songs in itunes...mp4 or aac into mp3's. You can convert them into mp3's and then save them in a folder in your hard drive then go to www.funformobile.com and go to upload rigers and send one of them to yourself.

Andrea Aug 06 2006

Thanks for the advice Mark, but I believe the songs are already in mp3 format and it's a bit too much for to convert and then go through a website when I bought this phone to be convenient.
No where in any of its literature, nor was it brought to my attention by the Sprint sales rep that this phone in not Mac compatible.
Kind of ironic being that they fashion the phone to resemble an iPod. I like the phone unless things are clarfied in may make sense for me to return it. What's the point of having this phone. To not be Mac compatible is just silly.
Are there any other Mac users that have the same problem or any helpful suggestions?

My ringtones suck because they sound the same no matter what setting they are on. Does anyone else have this problem? Please tell me so i can call Sprint and complain. I really am tired of dealing with this horrible speaker. I would hate for the near $400 I spent, not bring me satisfaction. THANKS

RE: FM Transmitter
First - Under the main menu (Menu OK) .. go to TOOLS .. Music Transmitter .. Highlight channel 1 .. 'Edit Channel" .. choose frequency ... save channel.

2. Get your song(s) playing.

3. Then - w/ the phone open .. hit "Menu" (upper right hand button) ... Option 4 says Music Transmitter On .. this does not mean it is on, you have to select option option 4 (your phone is transmitting when this says 'Music Transmitter Off' and music is not playing on your phone. You can now close your phone.

Sorry for the redundancy .. but I never saw the "options" that everyone was referring to in the above solutions. It works great. Incoming phone calls interrupt the song (you can choose to answer or ignore (upper right hand button).

alboy Aug 16 2006

anyone figure out how to use the phone as a modem w/o the 40/month? tried usb and bluetooth still nothin though.

MiniVampire Aug 17 2006

I love the fact you can play mp3 and mp4 on this phone...has anyone figured out yet how to get rid of that annoying vibrate it has randomly? i put my phone on vibrate for work and i make sure that all other alerts are off but it still randomly vibrates....what the hell

toby Aug 17 2006

Ok, I'm not retarded, qualified it, but I cannot get the FM transmitter working. I have done all the above suggestions.

I have saved frequency. I play a song and then hit the options button on the media player and the following options are all I see:
1.Info
2. Memory info
3.Title
4.Equalizer
5.Exit

Thats all I got. No other options. No hidder 0 option. Please help.
thanks

Joel Miller Aug 17 2006

2 questions

HOW TO GET MORE SONGS?????????!!!!!!!

HOW DO U GET VIDEOS??????????????!!!!!!!!

Joyce Aug 17 2006

When I try to tell the phone to act as a usb drive as instructed above, it seems to work ok but within a few seconds goes back to acting as a phone and reconnecting to the sprint network. I can't access the phone from my computer at all. Any idea what might be going on?

macuser Aug 19 2006

I can't get my Mac G4 to recognize the fusic either. Nothing happens after I plug in the USB and select connect. The Mac does not recognize it- I'll try my roomies PC. Does anyone know how I can make these 2 things communicate and actually transfer some music to the fusic via Mac- it's the whole reason I bought the phone.

Chopper Aug 19 2006

Toby, you need to go to MUSIC, then PLAYER, then ALL MY MUSIC, then select a song and play it, then MENU, and number 4: MUSIC TRANSMITTER ON. I tried it yesterday and it worked very well as long as my phone was two feet or less away. Really cool.

The FM transmitter will not show if you go to TOOLS/ MEMORY CARD, MUSIC folder, etc. hope this helps.

- Chopper

Chopper Aug 19 2006

The MicroSD card that it comes with is only 64MB, which means that depending upon song sizing, it will only hold up to 8-10 songs at the most.

So if you want this phone to hold more pictures or more music go to Amazon or any other place to get memory and look to buy something like a 'SanDisk 1 GB MicroSD Card.' I just ordered one from Amazon for $40. It should hold a couple of hundred songs.

joshb Aug 19 2006

Ok sweet looking phone with great reception...but I NEED HELP. MY HEADPHONE JACK DOESNT SEEM TO BE WORKING, when i plug the headphones in and listen to music, it still plays from phone speaker!? Also i cant use a headset for phone calls...anyone else having this problem?? Also there is like a static popping noise that comes after calls and when im opening applications....THIS IS VERY ANNOYING and im ready to trash the phone

chris B Aug 19 2006

Also having similar problems. MY PHONE VIBRATES RANDOMLY and also makes that annoying poppping noise. My headphone jack doesnt work either, same problems as josh above. Does anyone know how to fix this issue or should i just get a new phone?

macuser Aug 19 2006

PLEASE help me. I have a Mac powerbook G4. I have plugged in USB (yes correctly), gone to TOOLS and selected USB FLASH DRIVE and then YES, the phone does it's Fusic intro, but then goes back to my screen saver and no-where in or on my Mac does it show that my phone is hooked up. Is it even compatible? Do you really need a driver?
PLEASE HELP

kate Aug 20 2006

wen i load my music onto my phone, its only plays m4a, and all my other files are m4p and when i try and play them it says invalid file, how do i get all my songs 2 work. some plz tell me!!!!

ATphilly Aug 20 2006

Ok, so I just read thru all the posts. thanks for the info on setting music as ringtones and file conversions to fit more songs on the SD card.

RE: How to fit more songs on the card. Buy a 1 gb card ($43 at amazon). it holds about 250 songs!

RE: The headset not working. I had this problem too. just shut off the phone and restart.

RE: The annoying popping from the speaker. I get this too and it's concerning. Restarting the phone makes it go away.

**So the only problem I am having is that I can't seem to accurately categorize the songs by artist and genre. I have all the music correctly categorized on my computer, but when I put them on the phone, the artist and genre for most come up under "unknown." Anyone know how to do this right? Having the music correctly categorized makes searching for and playing songs so much better!

Lastly, no more friggin questions about connecting the phone to your computer via the USB or about the music transmitter!! Read the previous posts! (sorry, had to get that out. lol)

Thanks all. Fusic ROCKS!

Steven Aug 20 2006

I Love the new phone...
But one question....Can you use downloaded songs as ringers????

I would love to know! Thanks!

Jason P Aug 21 2006

Hello. I have the Fusion, but no access to Sprint Vision. My question is this...IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET A SONG AS A RINGTONE WITHOUT HAVING TO ACCESS SPRINT VISION(INTERNET)??? Can i get a trial of quicktime pro and if so where do i put the edited song clip on my phone(What folder) and with what do i upload it....Please help, i am so sick of these pathetic ringtones.....Thanks to everyone out there providing help, you are amazing

ATphilly Aug 21 2006

Steven, please read the previous posts on that topic.

Jason, I think you can add ringtones to your account thru the sprintpcs.com site. There are also other sites that I believe let you do that. also, you can get ringtones thru texting places that offer them. do a google search.

any answer to my question about categorizing songs properly on the phone?? (see above post)

jon Aug 21 2006

the only way to use mp3 for ringtones or add your personal ringtone is have internet access, because when you upload a ringtone, you have to download it using internet.
The other way is to wait for a newer version of bitpim that allows you to directly connect your mobile to your pc. But until then, having internet access is probably the easiest way to customize your ringtones.

Tiffany Aug 21 2006

PLEASE this is real annoying, does anyone know how to make the music and ringtones louder, it is way to quiet. You can barely hear the speaker!!!

Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris Aug 21 2006

Can someone please help me, i bought my fusic yester day and wanted to transfer some music from my pc to my cell. WHEN I INSERT THE SD CARD SUPPLIED WITH THE PHONE AND PLUG IN THE USB TO THE PHONE AND COMPUTER, nothing happens i go to tools, usb flash and hit yes my phone restarts and disconnects any suggestions, im new to this

augie Aug 22 2006

MiniVampire, the phone has a known bug that causes a random vibration is everything is set to vibrate only, rather, "virbrate all" i think.

augie Aug 22 2006

Kate,

I had the same problem with playing itune songs. some work, some don't. m4p verse m4a i guess. When I get home tonight, I'll mess with it. I saw on another website that going into itunes and changes the format might work. If it works, I'll post it.

Shannon Aug 22 2006

I bought music off of the Fusic Music store... and then downloaded the songs onto my computer by way of the sprint music store. It won't let me put the songs back onto my phone through the the USB cord. I have to connect back onto the music store to listen to the songs. It gives me this message:

One or more files will not be downloaded to Qualcomm MMC storage USB Device because Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device does not support SDMI-compliant files.

Help?!

VIBRATION SUCKS Aug 23 2006

Ok i know this has been adressed, but when the phone is on VIBRATE ALL, it vibrates randomly. This is completely unacceptable because for the many of us who like to set our phones on vibrate(while at work), it sends out false alarms of actually calls/messages and is INCREDIBLY annoying. My phone vibrates randomly every 2-5 minutes. Does anyone ....ANYONE know how to fix this because this is my 2nd phone that has done this......and to everyone else....try putting your phone on vibrate all and tell me if you experience the same.....THANKS

alex Aug 23 2006

Yah this phone is flawed....everyone who loves this phone doesnt maximize its capabilities because you CANT.....vibrates randomly, issues with headset etc...my recommendation buy a MOTOROLA!

augie Aug 23 2006

Ok, last night I tried it. I got the Jhymn download, it was free and took 5 minutes to install tops. Then you just set it to point at your itunes library and hit convert. It converts all 'protected' m4p's to m4a's with no quality loss. Then i could drag and drop any song from my itunes library directly onto the microSD card and they would play. It was such a relief!!

Vibration Solution Aug 23 2006

The vibration problem, a known error that Sprint found during initial testing, will be solved, it just LG couldn't fix it in time before the phone hit the market. In two weeks there will be a new software download that will correct the random vibration problem. In the meantime, check your message reminders to guarantee that isn't causing your random vibration.

g dawg Aug 23 2006

ok yall...
when i put mp3's on my phone i took the memory card out and put it in my computer then just accessed it through my computer and draged mp3's into the media folder which it asked my to automatically create when i tried to use the media player for the first time...so it was simple...
The problem is is that i don't have free internet and would rather not have to get a text and download the ringer that way....

I was wondering if anyone new how to plug in the memory card to your computer and just click and drag customized ringers onto and then access them once you plug in the phone...so they will work as ringers....
i know that they have to be shortend songs-i have that taken care of
and it sounds like they either have to be in m4a or acc files not mp3...

now not to sound rude but i have read through all of the comments so please don't reply to me unless you will either
a-answer my question
or
b-tell me the URL where i can find my answer
and i repeat i do not what to have to use the internet
thanks so much

ATphilly Aug 23 2006

Hi all, I contacted Sprint today about the popping sounds, constant vibrating (in message reminder mode), and headset problems. The tech guy was aware of the vibrating and said LG is working on this. He didn't have any software updates for the other problems, but said this would have to come from LG. When I asked about various scenarios to fix the problems that many seem to be having, the guy said that either a software update would be issued, a Sprint tech would have to repair the phone, or a recall would be made of the phones. Let's hope the first option occurs and does the trick!

Rene Requenez Aug 23 2006

I recently purchased the LG Fusic and, like most people here, I am very impressed with it. I am not a subscriber of the Sprint Vision package, so to the best of my knowledge I do not have web access and therefore don't think I can easily download ringers from the internet.

Like most people here, I would really like to know what I need to do to use a portion of an .mp3, .mid, or any of the other compatible sound files as a ringer. So far, I have been able to play whatever I upload from my computer to my memory card, but I can not seem to assign any of those music files to a ringer. Is there a specific directory within the memory card that I am suppossed to put the music file in?

Someone earlier suggested that I needed to save the music file as some other format that the phone would recognize as a ringer. This person said I could use QuickTime Pro to do the file conversion, so I have this already. Has anyone been successful at placing a ringer from your computer and into your phone without the use of Sprint's Vision service?

So far, I love the phone but the manual (as well as the LG website) has a lot to be desired.

Shaun Aug 23 2006

what about videos?? I havent seen any responses about downloading video from your computer to the fusic. I went out to best buy and bought a 1gig micro SD card. Now I want to put some video on my phone and it will not play it, I've tried. Help anyone? I know it has to be converted to a different file but I'm looking for COMPLETE help. what type of file, how do I do it, where do I go? thanks

Kylie Aug 24 2006

yeah. i did teh dierections from tools go down to the last option and it should connect..and the usb cord should be connected to your computer and phone. and then when i go to my computer is see "removeable dick (F:) something like that but when i click on it, it says insert disk to (F:)

whats that about?

jon Aug 24 2006

Letting everyone know that 1GB MicroSD cards are on sale from Amazon.com. It's $36+Shipping....not bad at all!

jon Aug 25 2006

Anyone know of any news about reflash/firmware for Fusic that adds Chinese language? Is it even possible?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Simone Aug 25 2006

I got the phone today and it's great... but when I tried to download the driver and plug my phone in and put it on the usb setting, it said to insert a memory card... did my phone not come with a memory card? And also, when I put songs on my phone for the mp3 player can I use those songs as ringtones as well?
Thank you!

KIM Aug 26 2006

I'm sorry, I am new at this. Please tell me how to convert songs to mp3 files on the pc and also how to place them in the media folder? I am so lost. Help! This phone is driving me crazy and I have read all of the comments. I need step by step instructions. Thanks.

When I plug my phone in via the USB it tells me to install the driver - I do then it says there is trouble and your device may not work properly - I cant access this phone thru my computer IT WILL NOT INSTALL - help what am I doing wrong - I am so confused....

Drastic91 Aug 26 2006

I just got the FUSIC and I am happy. When I got the phone ....I didn't expect IPOD quality, but its pretty good. The fm transmitter could have been stronger and the manual could have actually had some real instructions in it. I need to applaud everyone here because you folks have provided more than enough info to get my phone up and running. Someone here should create their own unofficial manual. Jhymn is the Sh*t and to upload files to your phone (ringtones, games, etc) try this site:
http://www.gtoal.com/pcs/

Dre

jon Aug 27 2006

Ok, there's no "driver" that you need to install. I dont know why everyone is saying you need to install a driver. All you need to do is plug your phone to your computer via the USB cord provided. Then on your cell phone, hit the "OK" button to view your Menu. Select "Tools". And on the very bottom it should say "USB FlashDrive" Select that and you can access your phone through the computer. All you have to do is got "explore" on your Windows and it should be listed as "X:/ Removeable Drive"

Tiffany Aug 27 2006

Has anyone figured out why the volume is so low, when you listen to the music or ringtones its so quiet, What can be done to make it louder??

And what about putting real music on the phone as ringtones, can that be done, with out having to pay for them??

Thanks everyone!!!

John Aug 29 2006

My first one the screen cracked randomly and now my speaker phone and is broke and myringer wont play any one have ny idea how to fix this??? this is a new phone!!

jon Aug 29 2006

gdawg...there's now way to upload a ringer via usb cord or directly upload it to your memory card. The reason that's not possible b/c you can't upload ringers directly to you're "My Content" menu. And the only way to do that is through the internet, because it'll automatically download it straight to your "My Content" where all the screen savers, applications, ringtones are at. The only way that i think would work (hopefully) is when BitPim update their software to allow our phone to work with their software. So, other than that... internet is the only way.

And John,
maybe take it to a Sprint store and have them check it out?

TPB Aug 30 2006

I just talked to someone at Sprint technical services and she said there are no drivers for the Fusic and Macs, at least not yet, which is ridiculous. She basically suggested I should have a PC since there are more support options for PCs. I have been unable to get the USB connection to work and have had no success with Bluetooth either. I got this phone to be easy, and it's a pain!

this is the best phone i ever purchased. it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

joes Sep 01 2006

Ok So ive got the fm transmitter working, the phone says i have 12 fm presets, how do it use these, during a song can i swithch which preset im on, id just like to know if i can switch the presets during playback? thanks ahead of time for an help

Drastic91 Sep 01 2006

Gdawg, the answer is no. There is no way to upload ringers without using the internet at this time.

Joes, there is no way to change presets while music is playing. you have to go to tools each time.

TPB, I looked around and I found this:

1) Pair your phone with your Mac over Bluetooth
2) In System Preferences -> Bluetooth, make sure "Show Bluetooth in Status Bar' is checked under settings, and "Bluetooth File Exchange" is checked under "Sharing".
3) On the Phone, make sure that under Settings -> Bluetooth -> Exchange Folder select "Media"
4) Now, click on the bluetooth icon on the menu bar and choose "Browse Device". I was not able to get "Send File" to work properly.
5) Choose your phone and connect
6) You should see the contents of the Media folder, it will be blank if you haven't moved anything yet.
7) Choose "Send" and choose the file.

Drastic91 Sep 01 2006

******************CORRECTION**********************

here is post I found that uses BITPIM to put ringer on your phone...and it actually works!!!!

using BITPIM when u have finally gotten past the driver situation which was actually no big deal for me (i don't understand why everybody has had such big issues)...create a MELODY on your phone before connecting (just make any sort of MELODY at all) name the file "WHATEVER YOU WANT"...after connecting to BITPIM then u need to locate the FOLDER that says something about the melodies RIGHT click the files ending in .MID (there will be two files that have the same "TITLE" that you created earlier after you made the random MELODY)...after you RIGHT click the correct .MID file then select OVERWRITE and from there locate the folder that you stash your MP3's and replace with what you want

NOTE...if you use the FULL song it will take a few minutes to upload but will definitely do the whole thing...just be patient...also I have no idea what memory it uses up because it does not store on the memory for the card and did not change to memory status in the content folder either...I LOVE THIS PHONE it's pretty awesome...oh yea and when you have figured out how to load MP3's to the phone you can have fun with the FM transmitter.

Sometimes it'll just skip to the next song. But most of the time, it just froze and wont do anything. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

I'm an old broad who bought this phone, read all of the stuff above and don't understand any of it. I have the phone and want to download some mystery books not musice so I can listen to them on my long commute to work. I don't get what I need to do. Can someone explain what I need to do in a step by step manner? I understand I have to begin by plugging in the phone using the USB cable to the computer. But when I try to download from I tunes ... the diak reads the books was transfered but I can't hear anything on the phone. When I go to the memory part of the phone ... it states there's nothing there. I just don't know what to do ... anyone interested to help someone's mother.

Anybody know how to get Sirius channels to transmit with FM trasmitter? I press options, but no option for FM is listed.

Drastic91 Sep 11 2006

Ernita Flores, What you will have to do is to plug your phone up, go to tools and select USB flash drive. It should appear as a new drive in your MY COMPUTER FOLDER. The easiest way to get music (or audiobooks ) from ITUNES is to select the file or you want, right click and copy. Then you go to the drive for your phone and out it into the MEDIA folder (or the MUSIC folder, depends on which one you are using), and past the file into the folder. If you are doing multiple files, its easier to make a new playlist, select all the files in that playlist, copy them and past them all into your folder on your phone.

As far as I know ......it is not possible to use the FM TRANSMITTER with SIRIUS on your phone. (They would rather you pay $5.99 a month on your phone plus $12.99 a month for your car subscrition) What you can do is buy an FM transmitter that is normally used for your IPOD or MP3 player and plug it up using the headset/earpiece. That should work.

i bought this phone yesterday, and now the camera/video is NOT WORKING. after it displays the little picture of the camera and the hourglass for about 30 sec, it says "camera is on standby" with a black screen. does anyone know what's going on? right now i guess i have no choice but to go to the sprint store.

Noam Sep 12 2006

Mac users; USB and Bluetooth has worked for me without problems. No special driver needed. Your micro memory card must be installed properly and working (label down) and your "flashdrive" must be turned on in "tools" for USB to work. The fusic will be recognized as an external drive in your finder windows and on the desktop. You can re-name it if you like. Drag music into the media folder on that "external drive" or create new music folders on the mac. Play from the external front controls on the fusic after choosing memory card.

The USB has connected to my old G3 pismo notebook and my imac G5.
The Bluetooth connected to my imac. though the USB is faster for transfering files.

The manual is not that bad people. Great bed time reading.
This gizimo is not your mama's wall phone.

Kim if you're still around. Search the internet for MP3 conversion info for the basics. You need some type of sofware tool to convert cd files into mp3's (and or other compressed formats) Lately I just use Itunes on my Mac. I don't usually buy from the Itunes store so I don't have issues with their format. In Itunes Mac you have to go to preferences /advanced/ importing and select mp3. Then you can then highlight tunes and select convert from the pull down menue. I haven't used itune on the PC but it should be quite similar.

This thing is amazing. Can't wait for my stereo bluetooth headset and 1gig card to arrive.

I love this phone. It's the best plaything i've gotten since my Ghostbusters Proton Pack back in the third grade! Anyway, the manual says it can handle up to a 1gb MicroSD card, but i'm curious if anybody's tried a 2gb?

Johnny Sep 12 2006

So I just pick up a Fusic but for some reason my computer doesn't reconize it. I have downloaded drivers from sprint and lg website still. No response. I went into my device management and while plugged in a question mark appears next to the mmc storage. I am not where else to go. Thanks.

noam Sep 12 2006

Johnny - Are you sure the memory card is installed correctly and the usb flash drive is turned on via "tools" ?

re. the 2gig card - I am curios too. I wonder if pre formatting the card as two one gig volumes would work - assuming there is some 1gig limit.

I've got a question regarding the the headset of the phone. I want to listen to music on my phone using just headphones so I bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter. But it seems like I have to use the headset they provide and connect that to the headphones to listen to music.

Does anyone know what I am talking about, how I can solve this problem using my converter, or have an idea of where I can buy a converter that will work?

Thanks

chris Sep 13 2006

as i posted earlier.. does anyone have a solution to the problem i have: when ever i try to send mp3s to the phone from the computer, it would start transferring the files for a second or 2 and then the phone would restart.. it sucks.. anyone please?

noam Sep 13 2006

Chris, If your connections are all good and this continues, I would call Sprint tech. or take the phone down to a Sprint store to have them check it.

Drastic91 Sep 13 2006

Ace......just disconnect the earbuds from the mic piece on the headset thats included with the phone, then plug in your own. Take that converter back.....you never needed it and they saw u coming a mile away.

would someone help me!! i jsut got my phone and i dont have any idea on how to put music from my computer for the mp3 player!! so plz help me!! im going crazy

chris Sep 14 2006

update on about my phone restarting when trying to download music...i tried it on the other computer in my house (a much slower one in fact) and it transferred with no problem...anyone know why my computer wont let it transfer with no problem??

Noam Sep 14 2006

sonia,

Did you read through all the above posts ? The procedure has been outlined.

*turn usb flashdrive on in the "tools" menu on the phone
*carefully connect the usb cord to the bottom of phone and computer
*phone should show up as an external drive on your computer
*drag your mp3 or other music files into the media or music *folder on that "external drive" which is the phone.
(PC's may be slightly different or need driver software installed
read posts above -I'm a Mac guy)
*Once the files have been transfered you can play them via the "media player" on your phone. Chose memory card and select the song you want to start with.

good luck

SOnia Sep 14 2006

well thanks for explain it to me again, but it wont work!! i did put the songs on the folder but whe i want to play them it says on my phone that there is no files on the memory!! so i dont know whats going on and i know im dumb lol bu i cant help it , so what do i do????

Noam Sep 15 2006

sonia

How are you trying to play the songs ? Try using the media player, not the "music" tool with the speaker icon that brings you to the music store. You can get to the media player from the front of the closed phone after holding the center key for a few sec.s to unlock it. Also from inside (fliped open) go menu, one push up , one to the right - to the icon that looks like a roll of film. Then choose memory card, then music folder then a song to start with.

If you don't see anything in the memory card, - after you are sure you transfered files, perhaps the card is bad. Bring it in to a Sprint store in that case and they can check it with another memory card.

Hope this helps. I found that "music icon" confusing. - once I went to the media player-memory card (with a good card installed properly) all was good. I initially had a bad card - or screwed it up putting it in with the writing side up-when it should be down - good luck.

Noam Sep 15 2006

Bluetake iphone mini very nice but . . .

Just got my bluetooth stereo headphone , the above mentioned mini's. They are very nice with music and work pretty well as a handsfree phone headset too.

One bit of wierdness - the media player works great with over them with songs from my memory card - but tuning in a channel - sprint radio or tv - I can't get the sound to go out over the headphones. Anyone have a clue?

This linked review reflects some of the frustrations people are having with negotiating this phone. If you are having trouble you won't feel as stupid after reading it.

http://reviews.digitaltrends.com/review3836_main19188.html

IMHO this phone is amazingly cool and well worth the minor hassels and learning curve. The ipod is way behind it in features (though simpler to navigate). Internet media downloads quickly and what the hey - you get a cell phone too !

c.wr. Sep 16 2006

Does anyone know if this phone can both send and receive text while roaming from Sprint customers?

sonia Sep 16 2006

well i found out another way to put music on it, by using the usb cable, but guess what it doesnt work either!! my sis got the same phone and she can listen to music , bu i cant, i connected the usb cable to my phone then 2 my computer then i went to menu, tools, and then i turn on the usb cable, but whenever it says on my phone that its connecting to computer, well my phone turns off!! and then it turns on again , this phone its getting on my nerves seriously!!

And also, when I go to the menu, my phone just keep talking stuff like, 'Setting', 'Missed Alerts', 'Tools' and etc like I cant read all those stuff myself. I want to get rid of this mode too. Can anybody help me with this?

TWO MUSIC PLAYERS

There are two ways to load and play music.

Load files into the "MUSIC" folder outside the media folder and you get the player connected to the Sprint Music Store. You can organize playlists and sort by artist or song. Bluetooth stereo headphones are not supported though !!! This sucks.

Load files into the "MEDIA" folder or a subfolder inside "MEDIA" and bluetooth headphones are supported (my bluetake iphone mini is great) but NO PLAYLISTS or SORTING !! bummer.

Powervision content is also not bluetooth headphone supported. also sucks

Still is the coolist sh__ since sliced bread - oddities asside.

I'm considering buying a fusic. Currently have a Sanyo 8200 and like it but want more features. Am a bit sceptical that the Fusic is actually worth the frustration.

I've read of lots of confusion and problems with moving mp3s onto it from the pc, vibration problems and sporadic shutoffs.

I'd love to hear someone that owns and uses their Fusic a lot to comment on the Sprint Power Vision stuff...like the TV, Web surfing, Sirius radio, etc.

Also...battery life. How is it? I was expecting to hear horror stories about the Fusic's battery life as I've read about the Samsung Blade. So how is it?

Thanks.

Like many of you I am having trouble doing the PC sync. When I connect, my phone powers off and restarts and my computer is not recognizing the usb at all. I have contact Sprint (on phone 5 hours -- no luck!! I wonder what type of degree you need to work in their "tech support"). I even contacted LG who stated that I needed to purchase an $80 piece of software for this to work -- NOT!!! Has anyone been able to figure this out?

Yes, I have downloaded the drivers from both the Sprint and LG websites. Depending on who you ask...no driver is needed.

By the way, when I contact LG the lady stated "you are the only customer that is having this problem, maybe it's your computer" Yeah right!!

So I've had my phone for almost a month and have officially decided my card reader is lost, so I still have no music :( But, I just got angry all over again and reading what LG and Sprint is telling everyone else, it makes me hate corporate america even more. Please excuse my ridiculous email, but you have to understand that I had four HUGE issues to deal with that week with other corporate bastards who could care less about me. Anywho, this is what I got from LG after sending them an email. I've edited my last name and info. out... also, what a nerd I am, but what an angry consumer I have become.

I've read that you can use the sd card on a mac but have to use a
card reader. I'm just kind of upset that there is no easily
accessible place to find where it is compatible. I'm looking at the
box and there is NO mention of it, also, in all of the user
information I looked at before purchasing it, there is no mention.
Now I'm going to have to try to return this phone because it is not
practical to handle a microSD card everytime I want to update it and
I will not use a shitty PC ever again on a regular basis. Once
again, corporate america doesn't care about the consumers, just their
money. I seriously suggest making a large, blatent statement about
the Fusic's incompatibility with Macs. But I guess LG and Sprint
don't really care about mac users... they should though, Apple just
doubled it's stake in the laptop market (up to 12% right now) and
will only continue to do so. I just feel cheated and ripped off that
there is no easy way for me to know that this is a windows-only
phone, it's almost false advertising (but I guess this would just be
omission). Also, if I download these "hacks" or other types of
software, they're not always safe and if I do damage with one of
these programs I have a STRONG feeling that Sprint and LG will both
tell me sorry, you aren't supposed to use that, if you want your
warranty or insurance to be valid. If I had local options I would
support them, but I do not. Sprint is one of my only options and the
Fusic was the only phone available with mp3 capabilities. I'm sorry
you're catching my venting, but honestly, what's the point of being
a good customer and paying on time and what not when nobody cares. I
have now wasted more of my time (which is extremely valuable to me,
as I am a college student and don't have enough as it is) and will
waste more of it, as well as gas money and more than likely missing
at least an hour of work to get to a store during business hours. I
just don't know what I can do to make corporate giants like yourself
understand how valuable my time is, how terrible most help is, and
why it's important to explain things like OS compatibility. Sprint
doesn't even know anything about this phone, as well.

So thank you, LG, for wasting my time and money because you didn't do
your work and you didn't note the incompatibility with the Mac.

I just purchased the Fusic phone and after spending about an hour
googling, I'm still lost. Is this phone compatible with my Mac? It
won't even recognize it as a flash drive, which I have found that
other Mac users have experienced. If it's not compatible, I think
you need to express that, because this phone is obviously very
appealing to apple fans, as it looks a lot like an iPod. Please let
me know ASAP so that I can return this if that is the case, because
anything that doesn't work with Apple isn't ok in my book. Thank you.

I have had it with this phone !!! For the last month my Fusic would reset randomly while texting. Now it resets everytime I try to access my picture album. I took it to the Sprint store today and they said they are waiting for an update from LG to fix this known problem but have no idea when it will come thru. I am to check with them every couple of weeks I guess. I purchased this phone just last August !! Per the rep she said she has had many customers coming in with the same problem in the last month. Replacing the phone won't do much good as it can and will probobly happen to that one as well. I will be calling customer service tomorrow and WILL get it exchanged for a different model. I am even willing to go down to the new Sanyo 8400. Anyone have any info on that one yet ???

Vickie Oct 17 2006

I just wanted to let everyone know, that last night (10/16/06), I bought this phone. After trying and trying to get the phone to accept ringtones from mp3's I was getting very very frustrated. I worked for about 3 hours on this phone and to no avail. I was about ready to give up when I found this website that walks you through putting your own mp3's as ringtones. After you get used to it, it's fairly simple. here is the website that helped me tremendously. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/382991 I made approximately 15 ringtones out of my mp3's in about 20 minutes after I got used to it.
I didn't want to have to pay for ringtones (very very stupid racket) and I like my ringtones to be loud.

Vickie Oct 17 2006

I also wanted to state a few other things from the phone. I really like the usb flash drive feature, I used to own a slvr l7 with I-Tunes, and it took forever to download music to my phone, and it had to be converted first. It was a very long drawn out process. With the fusic, all you have to do is plug it into the usb drive and copy and paste to the media file on your phone. I also noticed it will play wma files along with mp3 files, no telling what other kind of files it will take. but I had bought a 1 gig micro sd card for this phone for my music, and I've got close to 210 songs on my phone and still have about 1/4 gig left. As far as the FM transmitter goes, I noticed that you have to go into your media player settings on your phone to turn on the FM transmitter to answer someone elses question. The only thing I'm not crazy about on this phone, is you can't tell how much internal memory is left on the phone, so I don't know how many more ringtones that I can make before I fill up the memory. Also, you can't keep the ringtones on the memory card and it still work correctly, or at least I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Any way, if anyone has any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them if I can, just post on here, and I'll keep looking on here.

Attention MAC users

If you're some of the few who are having problems connecting the Fusic phone to your laptop using the provided USB cable and are experiencing the following:
1. Computer doesn't recognize it.
2. Nothing pops up on the screen it doesn't even recognize something is in the USB drive.
3. Powers your phone off when you attempt to connect using the USB.

Tell yourself that your Macbook Pro is too good for that piece of junk cable and get yourself a "card reader/writer"
You'll spend more time looking for "why" it doesn't work and read through tons of blogs looking for an answer and you'll discover that there are more people looking for "why" it doesn't work than actual answers out there.

Here's a solution!
I bought an "Ultra Portable USB 2.0 card reader/writer" by IOgear from Circuit City for $10. Just place your MicroSD card in it without the need for the provided adapter. Place the card reader/writer in the Mac USB port and BAMM!!! There it is on your desktop. It works for PC too. Double Score!!

I can transer my iTunes to it no problem. Except the iTunes purchased from iTunes which are protected. (I'm looking for a way around that...which is a whole different story all together)
Media Player transfers easily enough also.

Hope this helps

Also, try the Bluetooth Feature. Its a bit tricky, it takes a bit longer, but it can be done. Its just easier using the reader/writer for me.

Phantom Mariachi Oct 18 2006

It was CompUSA I bought it at. Sorry...
And their website has it listed as:
"IOGEAR Pocket Card microSD / TransFlash Flash Card Reader"
Best Buy carries it also. And so does Amazon.com
"Iogear USB 2.0 MEMORY CARD RW ( GFR201SDM )"

Thanks for that site. I downloaded the BitPim program..but it just wont detect my phone. I tried what it tells me....I selected "Other CDMA Phones" and I also tried both COMport 1 and 2. But still no luck. Any advice?

you can use yasa 3gp video converter to convert video to 3gp mp4. it works well.

I've had this phone for about 3 months, and my mom has had this phone for about 4 months and we are both having the same problem. The first problem we had was that the phone would turn off all of a sudden and when you try to turn it on the battery has been drained, even when the battery was fully charged. Now the phone sometimes doesn't receive calls when it is turned on. I've even called it from my home phone and it goes directly to voicemail. Is anyone else having this problem?

George Oct 28 2006

I'm taking this phone back. Any Mac user would be better to buy an iPod as the mac cannot see the phone with the data cable. Sprint tech support was surpised to hear this problem, (yeah right).

Can't play songs bought on iTunes either.
