LG FUSIC launched by Sprint PCS

May 24 2006 - 04:00 PM ET | LG Mobile Phone, Sprint Nextel

lg fusicSprint has launched the sleek LG FUSIC (formally known as the LG550), a handset we first heard about this year at CTIA. Much like Motorola, LG has been attempting to create brandable names for some of its higher profile launches. This started in the North American market by rebranding the VX9800 as the "V" and has continued with the Chocolate line that is currently available in Korea.

As the name implies, the LG FUSIC is a music centric handset. It's the first handset in the US to ship with an FM transmitter so that you can listen to your phone's music through a car or home stereo without extra cables. Other goodies include:

  • Bluetooth (with A2DP support for stereo headsets)
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • microSD card slot (64MB card included)
  • EV-DO, with Sprint Music Store support for over-the-air music downloads
  • External music control keys

The LG FUSIC will be available through Sprint starting on May 28th. It will cost $179.99 after rebate with a two-year service agreement. It's an exclusive to Sprint and will come with four faceplates: blue, green, pink and black.
