Virgin Mobile to trade ads for airtime

Virgin Mobile USA has Xero Mobile is making it their whole business), but this marks the first attempt by a major US mobile carrier.

Advertisements are web-based streaming videos, questionnaires or SMS messages. It takes one 30-second video, two SMS messages or one minute anwering a questionnaire to get one minute of airtime. There's a maximum of 75 free minutes that can be awarded to an account in one month. The first advertisers are Microsoft’s Xbox, Pepsi-Cola, and the American Legacy Foundation.
