Virgin Mobile partners with ReCellular

Virgin Mobile has become the first carrier to include a recycling envelope in the box with every phone it sells (online or retail). The postage paid envelopes make it easy to recycle the handset with ReCellular, a leading mobile phone recycler.

According to Virgin Mobile, phones may be refurbished and distributed where mobile phones are needed at a reduced price. If a phone cannot be re-used or refurbished, it will be recycled for alternative uses like plastic fencing and toy production.

A website has been set up to describe the new program. Virgin Mobile will donate 100% of the profits from this program to charities that assist homeless youth.
