HTC set to buy stake in Dopod

Windows Mobile handset maker High Tech Computer (HTC) is set to buy a controlling stake in Dopod. Dopod is a growing handset vendor in Asia and uses HTC exclusively to make its products. Dopod accounts for about 5% of HTC's business.

Analysts are concerned over what they say is very limited disclosure of HTC's relations with Dopod. The two companies co-operate closely and are believed to be controlled by the same people, but deny the existence of cross-shareholdings.

The deal is valued at no more than $150M.
