Cingular posts strong second quarter

Cingular posted a strong second quarter as the company continues to see gains from its merger with AT&T Wireless. While revenue increased only a modest 7%, profit spiked 267% to a record $540 million. Cingular remains the largest carrier in the US, with 57.3 million customers.

  • Data revenue per user increased 38% to $5.77 ($6.60 for postpaid customers)
  • 1.5 million net new customers
  • Postpaid churn lowered to 1.7%, pre-paid 1.5%

It's easy to spike your profits when you cut the commissions being paid to Agents and sales reps. They do not even spend money to buy chairs for the sales reps in the Corp owned stores.
