Sprint raises rate of SMS

Oct 11 2006 - 06:12 AM ET | SMS, Sprint Nextel

Sprint Nextel has raised the rate of an outgoing SMS message to 15 cents, up from the fairly industry standard 10 cents. Along with the hike for SMS, casual data usage (when there isn't a data plan) was raised a penny to 3 cents per kilobyte.

While the price increase for single text messages was significant, bulk pricing was not affected. Sprint still charges $5 for a 300 message bundle up to $15 for unlimited messaging.
