Rumor mill: Nokia looking to hijack Symbian?

Nov 10 2003 - 03:45 PM ET | Rumor
The latest rumor to hit the fan is that Nokia is trying to edge out Psion to gain more control over the Symbian mobile operating system. Currently Nokia owns 32% of Symbian, and Psion 31%. The take over would cause Nokia to have a majority stake which could mean major changes in the popular OS. Nokia of course denies the charge, stating that such a move would ruin Symbian's stake as a joint effort. However, the bulk of Symbian's sales come from popular Nokia models like the P800 and the 3650, which makes one wonder. For more information, check out related reports at InfoWorld and PC Pro.
