The Nokia E62 (AKA "BlackBerry killer") may be headed to Cingular. We first heard about the E62 from an FCC filing earlier this year, it's a stripped down version of the E61.
Nokia hasn't officially talked about the E62, so features haven't been completely confirmed, but it's supposed to have some goodies:
Pricing has not been rumored, but it will probably hover around the Treo.
Very nice!
This is definitely a Blackberry Killer machine. The advantage of Nokia machine is it don't infringe any patents.
this phones sucks ass compared to mine
If its stripped down, what is stripped out of it?
WiFi is missing
I think this is a great phone and will or willie Cingular has great customer service ...
The original E61 has WiFi, UMTS (which will not work in Cingular's HSDPA network, anyways) and the typical Nokia pop-port. The E62 especially cooked for Cingular has no WiFi, no UMTS and replaces the pop-port by a USB port a-la Motorola (finally!).
What do you mean E61 UMTS won't work on Cingular's HSDPA network? I thought HSDPA was the data component of UMTS...
the whole idea of having Wi fi makes E61 one of the kind. I use SiP over wireless G to make the calls all arround the world for just a few cents a minute or even for free. by the way UMTS 2100 does not work and not gonna work in US.
HSDPA is the higher speed boost to UMTS. However in Europe they use 2100MHz for UMTS, and Cingular uses 1900MHz.
The E62 is a piece of crap compared to the E61. Cingular has the best coverage, worst smartphones, and the worst customer service. Very frustrating.
