Nokia E61 announced, a BlackBerry killer

Noka E61Nokia today introduced the E61, part of its new E series of business phones. Design wise the phone is very similar looking to the Motorola Q and is a direct competitor to BlackBerry handsets. Feature wise though the E61 is in a class of its own:

  • Series 60 3rd Edition with Symbian OS v9.1
  • Bluetooth and WiFi (with VoIP support)
  • 240 × 320 pixel display with up to 16M colors
  • Compatible with new BlackBerry Connect for Symbian
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • GSM 850/900/1800/1900 + WCDMA 2100
  • 75MB internal memory, 64MB miniSD card included

The Nokia E61 will ship in the first quarter of next year. Pricing was not announced.

The price will be €350.00 ($420) to €450.00 ($540) unsubsidized, although carriers are likely to discount the devices to attract new customers (Niklas Savander, Nokia)
