Nextel has announced a service called PitCommand that lets Nextel handsets tap into real-time information about NASCAR. PitCommand is a Java application that creates a single view of all the critical race elements - including speed, RPM, throttle/brake indicators, lap counts and more. A graphical version of the track is even shown on screen, with icons for each car. The software is available for several newer Nextel phones, including the Motorola i830 that was introduced last month. The special edition i736 which offers 10 versions tuned to a specific driver is also compatible with the service. NASCAR.COM TO GO with PitCommand is available to Nextel customers as part of a bundled data package for $15.99 per month, or for $9.99 per month when also subscribed to a Total Connect data plan and Nextel Online Web service.
