Fees slow MMS adoption

Complicated billing for MMS (mutlimedia messages) have slowed the adoption rate of the technology, at least according to a report from analyst firm Canalys. bq. Although almost two thirds of mobile phones sold in the previous quarter had integrated cameras, MMS usage levels are well below those of SMS. Another problem facing MMS that is often cited as a roadblock, though not mentioned by Canalys is a lack of absolute carrier interoperability. Users rarely face problems sending a SMS across two carriers, but there are often snags while sending a MMS.
