Sprint and Verizon to lower LNP fees

Both Sprint PCS and Verizon Wireless today announced that the two companies will lower the monthly surcharge for expenses related to local number portability. The controversial surcharges have made the two companies over $250 million this year. Verizon is cutting the fee from $.45 to $.05 while Sprint PCS is going from $.40 to $.25. bq. Cingular, a joint venture between SBC Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp., charges from 52 cents to $1.25 a month for regulatory recovery, while AT&T Wireless charges $1.75.
