Hop-on, a mobile phone maker targeting emerging markets, will introduce the 1813 at CTIA next week. While the feature set is sparce, the price tag is only $36. Hop-on will market this phone to India. Features of the 1813 include:

  • SMS messaging
  • 50 phone book entries
  • 15 ring tones
  • 4 games
  • Lithium ion battery

The very low-cost mobile phone market has heated up lately with Motorola announcing it will ship a sub-$40 phone next month. Nokia is the market leader, but it lacks a very low-cost phone in the same range that Hop-on and (soon) Motorola sell.
