Samsung A970 gets FCC approval

The sleek Samsung SCH-A970 has been approved by the FCC (ID A3LSCHA970)

The Samsing A970's feature set is impressive:

• EV-DO high-speed data
• 2 megapixel camera with 2x optical zoom
• Bluetooth
• Swiveling display with clamshell design
• Advanced voice recognition
• MP3 player with playback buttons on front of the unit
• Video messaging

While a carrier hasn't been named, since the handset is CDMA there are two likely players: Verizon Wireless and Sprint PCS. Early spec sheets pointed to a second quarter launch, which was obviously over ambitious.
