Verizon Wireless announces LG VX8100 music upgrade

Verizon Wireless today announced that owners of the LG VX8100 can bring their phones into a company owned store and get a free upgrade that will add an MP3 playing function. Despite having dedicated music control buttons, the VX8100 shipped without a music player. Customers with the software update will be able to load MP3s onto an external memory card.

Verizon Wireless is expected to launch a music download service starting in the first quarter of next year.

The LG VX8100, introduced in July, can be upgraded at any Verizon Wireless location to include MP3 capability. Download your favorite CDs to standard memory cards, insert a card into the phone and listen to music from wherever you are.
